Looking through my memories on LJ, I found I actually saved some stuff. Instead of thinking I should and then not getting to it.

What would we do without our communities and the time commitments from all the many people who run them, as well as the people who join in to make them work? Here’s to just a few who started up or made new efforts this year.

(1) [livejournal.com profile] summer_of_spike - Fabulous project last year and fabulous again this year. People here are ridiculously talented and creative. I’m sure there were seasonal LJ communities before it came along but I know this project has inspired a number of other similar seasonal tributes to characters and ships. And it's a great spot for new people to realize just how much goes on. It was one of the first communities I joined when I was starting out.

I was going to post this list later on in our run but I saw a request on the Wish List that I thought two of these items might fill, so here it is now. There was just so much of the good this year I’ve ended up making a ton of lists. But some things popped to the top for me so I decided to put them in their own category.

(1) Smile Time: The Comic by [livejournal.com profile] astridv - All – My favorite piece of artwork this year. Just wow. Enjoyable story, great drawings, just such a wonderful thing to come across. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out.

I love AU fics when done well. These are all very different. They are all dark!slash. Some I've reced before, some not. Please enjoy, and I'd be interested in hearing what you think!

*Some of these you may not consider precisely AU, but let's say they have 'world building' elements even if they don't precisely fit that category.

My favorite AU slash fics of the year )

Once again, I couldn't narrow it down to just five. I'm a selfish greedy girl. I want them all! So for the writers on this list, it's the same situation as my previous list. This post is not to criticize or beg for updates. It’s just a way for me to say to the writers: Take your time. We’re still here. And when you’re ready to write it again, we’re eagerly awaiting with support and adoration. We love your story.

I won't forget you, baby )

Non-LJ life affects us all. I always wonder where our fan fic writers find the time and creativity to write all the great stories they give us. Sometimes, for one reason or another, WIPs take a back seat. Personal life, medical reasons, family, the muse took a vacation, or even less than kind feedback can cause a WIP to put aside until another day. This post is not to criticize or beg for updates. It’s just a way for me to say to the writers: Take your time. We’re still here. And when you’re ready to write it again, we’re eagerly awaiting with support and adoration. We love your story.

And for the readers out there, these are still amazing and spellbinding stories even though they’re not finished yet. Read ‘em. Get hooked! And watch for the new chapters!

I have read innumerable drabbles this year, and I've enjoyed a great many of them, so this is not so much a favorites list as it is a list of five drabbles that struck me and that I think deserve more attention than they've gotten.

There were a lot of great B/A fics this year. It was extremely hard to narrow it down but I chose stories that hit all my buttons of what B/A means to me. My B/A may not be your B/A but I'd like to think that all of these fics can be enjoyed by any fan of the B/A pairing.

Have you been seeing recs for the category of material you’re looking for? We’ve got a number of tag categories in place already so don’t forget you can check those now. (Our memories probably won’t be complete until next month). We’re also making this a special post for people to let their fellow community members know what they’re hoping to get for the holidays )
