Have you been seeing recs for the category of material you’re looking for? We’ve got a number of tag categories in place already so don’t forget you can check those now. (Our memories probably won’t be complete until next month). We’re also making this a special post for people to let their fellow community members know what they’re hoping to get for the holidays.

Comment below with a line or two about what recs you’ve been hoping to see. If you see requests here that you could make a post about, start putting a Top 5 list together! The more people post, the more likely everyone will find what they’re looking for. Just remember, it must be Buffyverse material created or completed in 2005.

And let’s not forget that one of the main reasons for the community is to thank the creative people who have given us their work this year. Any Scrooge-like comments will be shown the door.

To kick things off, here are some wishes we have.

yourlibrarian - I have never actually read any (strictly) Buffy/Angel fic, and I would like to. I know there must be Bangel lovers out there who know some great examples of B/A fic that was written this year. Also, if anyone can make recs of art, vids, or fic of Spike & Connor or Spike/Connor, I’d love to see it.

lillianmorgan - Darla! I have my own upcoming list of Darla fics but if there’s anything I missed I’d love to know about it, especially if it is Spike/Darla. Also would love to see (more) recs for any kind of Lilah material.

This is a bit specific, but if anyone could recommend some fics that 'save' Wesley in AtS season 5 - just give him some other ending than the one he got - I would dance and squee and call them George. In, you know, a good way.

Oh, good! I have a wishlist.

1. Bangel for Spuffy Shippers and Other Bangelphobes. I had a list ready, but I forgot the 2005 rule, so I'm revising. What I want is the greatest B/A you can find that's least likely to annoy non-shippers with cliches, bashing, or dismissal of Spike, Darla, Cordy et al.

2. Spuffy for Folks Who Normally Wouldn't Touch the Stuff. Same deal. I'm trying to write this, too, but it's oddly harder to calculate, since I ship Spuffy myself.

3. Slash So Intelligent or Unusual Even Het-Lovers Should Read It.

4. Paradigm-Busting Het.

5. Femslash with Actual Plot.

6. Connor!

7. Innovative fiction: style, presentation, multimedia collaborations, etc.

8. Poetry.

As a former Spuffy, I'd love a list of stories that could convince me Buffy meant what she said when she said she loved Spike in Chosen.

I'm also always eager for Spike/Darla fics and Spike/Giles fics. Can't get enough of either pairing.

Also, comic fics that are laugh out loud funny. Those are like gold.

Should add - threesome fics, in particular S/B/A ones that won't make people who are more inclined to one pairing than the other feel that their 'ship is actually the spare wheel.

This is undoubtedly a very tricky thing to do because mileage will differ, in that for a Bangel 'shipper a S/B/A fic might come across fine whereas to a Spuffy 'shipper, the same story might seem quite 'wrong' and of course vice versa. Maybe it's not really possible to be completely fair to all three pairings in one fic?

My Christmas wish list

Main requirements - Gen. non-slash, non-shipper (or ship not central to the story). Humourous or angsty, tear-jerker or thrill-a-minute ride, I don't mind.

1.In-canon fics (I know about the virtual series) featuring Spike with any or all of the following:
Angel, Giles, Willow, Illyria, Wesley, Buffy, Connor.

2. Minor character: Whistler, Ethan, Illona (can anyone write her as well as calove?, post AtS5 Connor, preferably (but not essential)featuring Spike.

3. Any fic showing Drusilla's fate, preferably featuring Spike.

4. Neglected characters: Lorne, Clem, Jonathan - again preferably with Spike but not essential.

5. Post AtS5 Spike, Buffy and Angel.

Action/Adventure fics, preferably saga/novel length with canon pairings. I'm not averse to AU but like the characters to resemble their canon persona.

As a Spuffy shipper I think I've read everything that could fit in this category (Eurydice, Kimi, BarbC, Mary, Nan Dibble, Chris, Isabelle etc) but I'd LOVE to be proven wrong if someone could come up with a 'Rare Action/Adventure Saga's'.
