Fandom is a City by ruuger is a lovely essay on the rise and fall of fandoms - about their longevity and fleetingness and the traces they leave in their wake. The author puts it far more eloquently than I could so go read. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

The podcast The Sunnydale Fanfic Club is one of my favorite things that have been happening in Buffy fandom lately. I love how interactive and community-oriented it is, and I love getting writing advice and story trivia from some of my favorite authors, hearing about the experiences of other fans, and discovering bits of fandom history. This list is going to be highly subjective, so if interviews with Buffyverse fanfic authors sound fun, I recommend browsing their annotated episode list on libsyn to see for yourself which episodes might interest you. Below are some of the ones I enjoyed most. Assume all episodes are NSFW by default.

Okay, I'm not exactly sure what to call this category but they're not chipper, that's for sure.
These are all worksafe.

1. Brave New World by Kaydee Falls asks if we are sure that the real world actually is better than the Wish!verse.

2. Quinara's in the dark / sometimes / i hear you gives a great feel of Spike's insane in the high-school basement PoV.

3. Losing Your Memory by Tay Marie has me in tears each time I watch.

4. Aycheb's Scarlet Ribbons: Yeah, I apologize for inflicing this on you right after Losing Your Memory. Also, I think it's awesome she quoted Alice Sheldon (aka James Tiptree Jr.).

5. Laura Shapiro's Transparent: Eeeeee! Amazing Willow character study.

1) Mark Watches Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Mark: This is the new hottest thing with fandom right now. He's a Buffy virgin, totally unspoiled, which is why his reviews are so popular. For example, he didn't know Angel was a vampire. His enthusiasm and insight are also reasons for his popularity. It's so fun watching him guess and get shocked and squeal at everything. He also gets a lot of comments from fans who watched and didn't watch the show.
