It’s a new golden age for fans of good Spike/Buffy fic, much of it funny. There is a whole fresh crop of excellent writers dipping into the Buffyverse for the first time. Here are five that have found new things to say — in sparkling prose — about the pairing. In alphabetical order:

Five outstanding in their field... )

I apologize for another Spuffy post... (but it's pretty much the only fanfiction I tend to read).

You ever feel like you don't want to invest your time in any new authors, because you don't want to be disappointed?  Here are five authors new to Spuffy and the Buffyverse within the last year.  All are talented writers who know what grammar is and how to use it, are quite adept at a clever turn of phrase, can plot with the best of them, and keep our heroes and sidekicks the characters we know and love without any blatant character-bashing (not even Angel!).   These authors get bonus points for avoiding OverlyBitchy!Buffy/Saintly!Spike.

Websites and communities that can "help" you get a project completed. In no particular order :

Riters_r_us : This community is intended as a resource for fan fic writers, betas and anyone else interested in improving their writing. Great place for discussions on grammar, spelling, etc.

BtVS_Award_Info : a community that has been created so that people can stay aprised of nomination openings and closings and the current status of Buffy based awards sites. The website currently comprises 17 current websites, and a listing of sites on hiatus.

The Angel and Spike timeline : confused about what happened when - look no further.

The Buffy and Angel Dialogue Database : one stop for all your dialogue needs.

Banner grab . Need a banner for your latest tale? Stop on over and make a request.

1) Episode Notes by [livejournal.com profile] 2maggie2, Strudel and [livejournal.com profile] local_max: These episode notes are a joy to read. Those three dig deep into the series and speak of foreshadowing. My favorite part is the focus on the Scooby dynamic -Buffy, Xander, and Willow- and how complex and realistic this friendship is.

A bit of a mishmash, this list. In the end, I just picked some favourites and then went 'large' at the end.

Top Five Season 8 Discussions at BuffyForums:

1- Season 8: After the Metaphor Fall? Thread Starter: Wolfie Gilmore. Sadly a dead thread, but has a great discussion about the metaphors in Buffy and S8 especially.

I know that [profile] woman_of_ beat me up to it, but there are other forums I'd like to mention. :)

1- BuffyForums (Formerly Known As BuffyWorld): This is the best place to discuss S8, simply because it raises the most interesting discussions, most of the best discussions I've read were in this forum.

These particular "top 5" are the hardest. Currently there are dozens of active Spuffy archives with regular updates, boards and forums. I got terrible headache trying to narrow down the list and almost gave up. Still I decided to make a try. I post a pretty random "top 5" and beg the owners of other wonderful, wonderful Spuffy archives to forgive me for not including them in the list.
So, in no particular order...

I figured that this might be something that people weren't familiar with and when I saw the RPG tag in the tag list, it inspired me. (I use the tag list...a lot.) Not sure how many people are familiar with RPGs (Role playing games) but the 'verse has some of the most active and longest running games, especially on Yahoo. These are PBeM (Play By E-Mail) more so than a message board, chat, or communities settings.

So I picked out five great ones that I play in that have strong characterization, great voices, fabulous plots, and just really fun people. They are great to join if you are into RPing or if you just want to lurk to see great stories unfold.

I am starting off with the big momma of them all...
