5 active Spuffy archives outside LJ

These particular "top 5" are the hardest. Currently there are dozens of active Spuffy archives with regular updates, boards and forums. I got terrible headache trying to narrow down the list and almost gave up. Still I decided to make a try. I post a pretty random "top 5" and beg the owners of other wonderful, wonderful Spuffy archives to forgive me for not including them in the list.

How nice to see some archives recced. The fandom's been losing some in the past few years so it's good to appreciate the ones that are still around. Thanks for the list!

Problem is that these communities are practically isolated from each other. They're small "pocket universes". Recently some authors started crossing over to LJ but I've got the impression that they're more comfortable in their habitual milieu among longtime friends.

Yeah it's interesting how technological "spaces" can be so unconnected even though the interests are shared with many other pockets of people. It's an interesting phenomena.

All excellent archives, and it's good to see new ones like Elysian Fields appearing to replace those which have sadly disappeared. My favourite Spuffy archive (sadly no longer updated but still there thank goodness) is Sinister Attraction - always my first port of call when looking for a fic.

I thought about including Sinister Attraction! There were updates in 2006 so technically they 're eligible. But recently they stopped updating so after long hesitations I decided to exclude them. Like I've already said, the process of choosing 5 archives was the hardest.

As to Elysian Fields, I discovered them recently and was pleasantly surprised to find great diversity of fics - classical as well as written recently. Definitely a place to check regularly.

Thanks a lot - it's a very useful tip! I haven't used the RSS before (because I have hard time getting accustomed to new means of getting the information).
I added these three to my F-list (hopefully that's all I have to do to get updates).

*nods* Then you get the updates at your F-List.
And don't panic! When you add them (RSS) for the first time you get a lot of them; like the last 10 (? I forgot). It's only because it is the first time, then you'll see only updates. (I asked Elysian Fields if they have a RSS feature; then I can make one.)
Oh BTW: Some from the House of Bloodshed have Yahoo Groups. But not all I think.

Thanks, honey, it's very touching to see that you haven't forgotten about me. Elysian Fields is great archive, but I don't have time to visit it every day and often wonder if I missed something interesting. And this way I'll be in the loop. *hugs*

You're welcome :) That's what the RSS feeds are good for. I'm mostly at one archive (and a bit on a second) but this way I can see what happens with the others :) So when I saw the RSS symbol I tried to make one but it already existed.
