1. Sweet William, by Peasant -- The early days of William and the Fanged Four. One of my favorite buffyverse fics, historical or otherwise.

2. A Winter's Tale, by Coquette -- The Fanged Four on a Northern journey. Beautiful writing, engrossing plot.

3. Delight Becomes Pictorial, by glossiolalia -- William/Angelus. Dark, hot.

4. Many Loves, by Anonymous -- The loves of William (and Spike), from turning until after The Gift.

5. Thicker Than Water, by Tara R. -- Shanghai, 1900. An encounter between Angelus and William. Or is it Angel and Spike?

femslash_minis has been around since 2005, and has led to hundreds of Jossverse stories being written. The pairings range from the popular to extraordinarily rare, and the tone of the stories runs the gamut from the lightest of fluff to the pitch-dark. Salt on a Briar Rose by voleuse, Willow/Illyria, PG-13. Willow and Illyria exploring L.A., post-NFA apocalypse. Both women's voices are perfect, and there's more beauty and warmth than you'd expect under those circumstances.

I read so many great Fred/Willow fics in the course of making my femslash_minis list that I decided to make a separate post about the Fred/Willow pairing in general. It's not a pairing I'd thought much about except "Oh, they'd be cute together", but there are a lot of fantastic stories out there that go beyond that.

Here are a few of my favorite Spike/Angel stories. Most of these contain explicit slash, none of them are workplace safe.

To Take You in - by Jessica Walker (aka Anonymous) This is a new twist on an old idea. Spike comes to Angel when he is chipped. But Jessica has a wonderful back story for Spike and Angel. Time is the Fire in Which We Burn - I had to pick one story from Love that Dares, a website with all of Jenny's fiction. This is the first story in a long series. Waking William - Author: Feliblanco. Spike has gotten his soul and he still has his chip. When he arrives in LA he is nearly dead from the abuse an attractive man who can't fight back, and who believes he deserves punishment, he has suffered. But the story goes off into some interesting directions beyond the h/c.

The Other Bloody Ring: by Mabel Marsters - since I seem to be doing crossovers, here is a Spike/Damon story. Sorter and fluffier than the rest, it is definitely worth reading. Thwarted in his efforts to hold on to the Gem of Amara, Spike opts to go visit with an old friend, leading to some unsettling discoveries. Pity Us We Wakeful– Angel/Willow/Spike from Velvetwhip (Gabrielle) I believe that this is the one story in all of fandom that had the greatest affect on me. Bleak, tragic and beautifully written, it’s about the compromises we make, and how painful they can be. It’s greatest impact is that nothing really bad happens – no tragic event – it all takes place in choices people make and the half-life they live because of them.

A Sire’s Family – The first story of a trilogy. While this is definitely Spike/Angel, there is so much more going on in this wonderful AU. Angel calls his family to him very early in the series because Giles asks him to.
