Buffyverse vampires are interesting in any era, don't you think? They've been all over the world, and had loads of adventures. Below are just a few of the things written about them in 2012:

An AU story of the turning of William, Demon Hunter into Spike, Slayer of Slayers, with stops in St. Petersburg and aboard a German U-boat. Eventually will end up Spike/Buffy, but up 'til now it’s been all Fanged Four. \o/

Vampyre! by il_mio_capitano (Giles, Spike, Buffy) PG13 — 4 chapters, complete
The Watcher’s Council turns Giles into a vampire in a misguided effort to get Buffy to do its bidding. Spike reluctantly ends up with the fledge-sitting duties, and the surprises just keep coming.

Static by The Foxinator foxstarreh (Spike and Darla) PG13 — One shot
Darla is looking for family, now that she’s in a family way, but all she can find is Spike.

There are never enough of these kinds of stories, IMHO. I feel guilty for not writing a single historical Spike/Dru last year, but at least I can spread the word about how amazing these stories are, in hopes others will be inspired to add their own!

Thanks for the fic! Darla and Spike interacting is all too rare in fic as well as on the show.

I am biased, but I think the most amazing Buffyverse fic is here on LJ/DW. Finding it can be tricky, but subscribing to su_herald, petzipellepingo, and this comm are great places to start. Have fun!

Your fic was even nicer! Or more terrifying. Whichever. But seriously, your story was at the top of my list in 2012. It's a really unique and well-done look at a pivotal event...one for which we don't have flashbacks to guide us. It's my head canon now.

Honestly, when I read a short story I am always hoping for something unusual, either in story or style. It's fun for me as a reader to stretch a little, to be an active participant. Hooray for experiments, say I!
