I tend to gravitate to pieces that don't follow the ordinary structure. Here are five of my favorites from this year:
An Alphabet of Fred by
deird1 - A list of Fred's qualities and memories mixed in with Illyria's told from Illyria's point-of-view. A wonderful character study.
Application by
deird1 - Faith deals with the bureaucratic side of the Council while filling out an application for a child-care center for the children of Slayers. This piece consists of the application questions and Faith's responses.
Chao-Ahn's Letter by
gillo - Probably the most straightforward narrative of the five, but a very nice strategy to go more in-depth to Chao-Ahn's life before Sunnydale and her experiences with the Scoobies and the rest of the Potentials.
Speak as Liberal as the North by
deird1 - Poetic look at the Fred-Wes-Gunn triangle through the lens of Shakespeare's "Othello". The last line is a killer.
Who's to Say I'm Not by
me_llamo_nic - Femslash between Buffy and Willow plays out in an IM conversation. Definitely should make readers LOL.
