Five Favorite Fics by Sexymermaid

Here's another author-centric list from me. Discovering sexymermaid's work was one of the highlights of my year and I am going to list the five stories that went the longest way towards making me an ardent fan!

The Janitor(Spangel human AU): This is the fic that convinced me that sexymermaid was going to become one of my favorite authors. How could anyone read this tale of a slow-witted boxer and a crippled student and not be moved to tears many a time? This is one heck of a tale!




Man Hunter (Spangel human AU): A crackling good mystery/thriller with strong sexuality and even stronger drama! This is a must-read!

Runaway: Xander is a teenage runaway, Angel a lonely vampire. Add in a predatory Spike and a sick and vulnerable Dawn and you have the makings of a twisted but gripping tale!

Seven: If you, like me, found Season Seven of BTVS to be less than terrific, this is the fic for you! sexymermaid gives us the Spander version of Season Seven and it's marvelous. She seamlessly weaves canon with her Spander-flavoured changes and makes all the pain go away.

Soapstone: Short, but so powerful, this human!AU Spangel fic set during the Vietnam War is compelling, sensual, and emotional...everything you want from a fic!

sexymermaid became one of my favorite authors this year and I am so looking forward to seeing more of her work in 2007. She's always a fantastic read!

Yes, it was. I have a lot of very good memories of writing it and I'm delighted you also loved the Vietnam fic since I was very nervous posting it.

It was very hard to narrow this list down to five, by the way! But yes, I love Janitor, Soapstone, Man Hunter, Runaway, Seven...
