buffyversetop5The following are my favourite dark!fics in the BtVS verse. Just make sure you read the warnings on the author's pages because none of these are for the faint of heart.
1. What Makes Us by Laikoke
Here's my all-time fav hurt/comfort fic. Stop right now if you don't dig extreme Victim!Xander fic, which is odd for me to rec because I generally hate seing Angel maligned or come in second to Spike (in hero points), but this story is so raw and powerful that even I wanted to slap the bastard around a bit for not doing enough to heal Xander's Angelus based trauma! If at first this seems like a character bashing fiesta, wait a bit because in the end, when all is revealed, the scoobies open their eyes, recognize where their loyalties lay and stop making excuses... and, really, isn't that the most important thing?
2. Merely a Possession Series (primarily X/OMCs & X/S) (Forced to His Knees, Road to Recovery, Lidsey's Angels) by TJ Goldstein - This is one DARK and SICK ride. Don't read this if you have any problems with a THOROUGHLY broken and bloody Xander (not to mention what the other characters have to go through). Trust me, the imagery and brutality of this fic will stay with you for ages. Be warned that I'm pretty sure that it's a perpetual WIP (the author hasn't updated in years) and that this is without a doubt, the darkest fic on this list...really, don't read it if you don't want to go to a very very very dark place.
3. Long Spiral Downwards Series (S/OMCs & S/X)by TJ Goldstein - Here, Xander finds an abused, chipped Spike and proceeds to add to his degradation and isolation. This fic is really dark and DOES NOT have any real silver linings, but it's extremely riveting nonetheless. Don't read this if you can't handle extreme darkfic.
4. Ritual by Velvet Crypt
This fic is super dark and somehow, I always wish I'd thought of writing it first because it's ingenious. Someone captures the scoobies and makes them do horrible things... to each other. It actually, doesn't end too badly, but it's sick and twisted and, I think, the perfect Halloween read. Gives me shivers every time.
5. Angel's Slavery by Shara Nesu
It's the puppy-verse and Spike manages to buy Angel as a pet. Boy oh boy is payback a bi*ch... until Spike, true to type, starts to fall for his pet... not that he turns into a schmoopy happy sweetie-pie.
