Umm, I'm not a writer, but love reading most anything with Spike in it. Heh. It's been 90+% Spuffy until I stumbled upon
buffyversetop5; since then, I've found fics & pairings I'd have never considered, prior. For that, I give a huge thanks! This is only the second post I've done to a community and though I tried to read the rules, if I've missed something, please forgive me, but certainly let me know. /end panic attack.
I'd also like to admit that there's hardly been a story on LJ that I've read that hasn't affected me in some way--the writers here seem to have an edge over a great many other fic writers...lj must attract the 'greats'! Specifically towards the authors in my recs, you can be sure I've read nearly everything they've ever shared; they're just that good.
Title: Criminal Games
Author:
_a_s_h_l_e_e_
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Rating: NC-17
Link: http://www.livejournal.com/users/_a_s_h_l_e_e_/67134.html
Description: Human AU. It involves deception, the FBI, and art thievery. The dangerous dance between Buffy & William/Spike is beautifully done, and I've learned that Ashlee almost always gives her fics an edge, or taboo that keeps you hungry for more. (She more than delivers!)
Title: Homecoming
Author:
beanbeans
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Rating: Hard R, NC-17
Link: http://www.livejournal.com/users/beanbeans/25445.html
Description: Human AU. After fourteen years, Buffy Summers returns home to reunite with her childhood best friend and first love, William "Spike" Price. I've just started to enjoy & seek out stories that involve the tender/painful growing up years but beanbeans just makes this sing. Her writing is gentle and poignant, and I found myself aching for the first kiss, the first touch they share. Her Buffy is a welcomed relief to the typical reunion fic; she's not prickly or spitting like an angry cat but is instead a more MatureBuffy.
Title: Whispers in a Dead Man's Ear
Author:
amybnnyc
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Rating: R
Link: http://www.livejournal.com/community/seasonal_spuffy/48998.html
Description: It's an eight-part series where each installment deals with a different, canon-based moment in which Buffy and Spike have a conversation to which no one else is privy, a conversation that serves as a watershed moment in their relationship. Amybnnyc touches on points that have been a burr in my 'mental side' ever since watching the particular episodes..."How in the he*ll did the writers add a+b to reach 7?!" Each is a tasty snack that left me anxious for the next offering. :)
Title: Color of Devotion
Author:
rikki_oko
Pairing: Spike/Buffy
Rating: R
Link: http://rikki.jaded-paradise.net/devotion/
Description: (set after Season 7) The remaining Scoobies are trying to start over in a new city after Spike's heroic sacrifice. The absence of the blonde vampire casts a shadow over Buffy, and her longing for what is lost only increases when the works of a nocturnal artist begin to mysteriously appear. It's quite possible I'm cheating, but as I discovered this fic in 2005, I reverently submit it to the class. I devoured this fic, couldn't get enough of it. It's dark, it's powerful, and rikki_oko tries to hurt your heart before she offers hope.
Title: "A Stone's Throw from Yesterday"
Author:
eurydice72
Pairing: Spike/Buffy & another pair or two
Rating: R
Link: http://www.livejournal.com/users/eurydice72/237915.html
Description: Fall, 2006. The Sunnydale Hellmouth has been destroyed for over three years, and the Scooby gang has scattered to the four corners of the globe, continuing their fight against the dark evils of the world. In the Egyptian desert, a single man hears a tortured plea for help. It's just a shame he doesn't recognize his own voice... Eurydice72 may be my favourite fic author, period. She gives life and a true voice to her characters, and perhaps none as well as in this offering. Where I sometimes find myself gobbling stories with big bites to see what's next, I found myself savouring her each & every paragraph. 'A Stone's Throw from Yesterday' is filled with word gems; I had to give up highlighting sections to share in my comment after each chapter, there was simply too much, too good. Just read it, da*mn it. ;)
