This is an odd and very personal list through my head. I write a lot of ships. Want to know who made me want to? I hope you like this quirky little list.
These recs will be a bit more chatty. I'm trying to box them in with why they influenced me, and why they are good memories. Oh, yeah, and this is also a love story. I wouldn't have gone where I did without these amazing writers and stories.
1. Why I wrote spangel: I was influenced to write spangel by my friend
petitemiel. She was the first to even explain what slash was to me, because I was very naive, and had never heard of it. She's very classy and courageous. She gave me a link to her website and her spangel story knowing I'd never read any. Here's a story she wrote this year while we were both on the same forum for a while. This is a fantastic Will/Angelus fic: Because I could not stop for Death Rated NC 17, complete.
2. Why I wrote spred and spillyria:
sockmonkeyhere. I met her on a forum and became friends with her and I followed Re entry as a WIP and I fell in love with narrative storytelling in fan fic, and tried my hand at it. Her spred is fantastic. It's the spred you read if you read slash because it has all this quirky slashy humor, and yet it's het. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but that's one of the delights of her storytelling. Rated R, complete with finished sequel now.
3. Why I wrote spander. I can't rec Willshenillshe's Pierced!verse here (you can read her e novels though), but that was my first spander, and I was completely blown away by it. It was so shockingly different, like a rooster of an AU, yet I recognized the characters. If I had only one story to show why I love spander passionately, it would be No More Snakes and Ladders by Reremouse and Tabaqui. If you were on a deserted island, and you could only read one spander fic ever, this would be the one. NC 17, Complete.
4. Why I write spawn is easy. I read this one by
theohara, and couldn't find anything more like it. Two Summers PG 13, WIP.
5. Why I'll probably write RPS if I ever get the time is
felisblanco. I read one of Nick and his brother by her that was amazing. But I'm going to rec today why I wrote my first rimming scene. I did it after reading this one: here. Definitely!NC 17 DB/JM slash, 1/1 drabble. *g*
