Hello everyone! We're thrilled to see the many posts rolling in and hope that as the weekend comes around more of you will be able to come on by. Remember though that we're open until January 31 so if things get a little busy you can always join in later.
We have some posting problems we need to comment on and also ask for some assistance with.
We've been advised that people are having problems in deleting comments, adding tags, and possibly even editing posts. We think this has to do with the pre-launch settings for the community before posting opened and we hope we have that fixed now. If not, please let us know.
We also have noted that if you are scrolling through the community you can't tell who is posting, and that you can't go from inside one post to the next one. These seem to be layout restrictions and we're assuming we can only change this by switching to a new layout. Which we've done, to something simpler. So now you can open a link and see this information more clearly. We had also planned to do some redecorating in about a week anyway and may have to experiment further with layouts. However neither of us is very layout-savvy so if one of you out there is and can give us some advice on what to switch to, it would be greatly appreciated (comment below or e-mail us).
Lastly while we are delighted that everyone is jumping in with both feet and being creative with categories of posts, we need to remind everyone that there are a few guidelines that need to be followed. The main three are that posts are to be recs of work the fandom has produced, the work is about the Buffyverse (crossovers are fine!) and that the work was created or completed in 2005.
Among our various reasons for creating this community is to give folks a chance to get to know the work of other folks they haven't come across before, and focusing on more recent material allows people to connect with others active in the fandom or who may be new. If you'd like to rec work that falls outside these guidelines, by all means, add a link in your post to your journal where you can rec all that other great work.
Also, regarding ratings, some authors state story ratings clearly and others don't, so it's helpful to those looking for recs to have that information available, especially if they're trying out someone new. If there's no rating stated, make your best guess and label it All, Teen or Mature. And definitely, please label graphics as it also helps those viewers in public spaces or with slow connections.
Please take another look at our posting information and feel free to ask questions at our FAQ page or e-mail us privately at buffyversetop5 @ yahoo.com. Also all mod posts are currently stored in the community's memories. We're happy to hear from you and want to make this a good experience for everyone.
Again, thank you all for your participation and support. We are really looking forward to seeing all your recs in the weeks to come!
