5 Awesome Oz fics

buffyversetop5I love Oz, and when he’s written well, it makes me very happy. Here are five fics that do just that…

idyll makes me tear up every time I read it because it is so damn beautiful - bleak, and sad with a chink of light in the clouds that makes my heart ache. Oz is rescued and now must find himself. There’s a hint of slash at the end, but really this is a story that’s all about Oz.
These next three are all post Lovers Walk fics. I love the different ways, different authors approach this.
The Ones Not Kissed bysnickfic finds Oz visiting Cordy in the hospital.. I would love to have seen this in canon because it’s all kinds of wonderful. Great Cordy and Oz voices and characterisation and lovely plausible action.
For a different take on a canon conversation that didn’t happen, try Deck the Halls byclawofcat. Faith is shopping for Christmas lights and Oz helps her choose. I don’t think of these two interacting, but this is short and quite perfect.
Finding the Why by Pete Meillenger was the very first piece of slash I ever read back in 2002/03. It’s very tame by the standards of the things I’ve read since then and some of the things I’ve written when I think about it, but at the time I remember it turned my world upside down. Xander makes time with Oz in a closet and it’s all kinds of dirty, bad and wrong. The ending still gets to me all these years later.
And finally a little bit of Oz in LA. You Had To Be There bybrutti_ma_buoni finds Oz helping Anne at the shelter, defragging computers and using his nose to smell an apocalypse in the making. I have no words for how great this is.
