1. Strange and Beautiful by Charmax - All - I find this vid to be a perfect compliment to the Willow/Xander vid “Ordinary” which was recced here last year (and which I adore). Looking at Buffy/Xander, this vid also has a great match of music and topic, and yet unlike “Ordinary” has a dark element to it. I don’t know if that’s because in the early seasons Xander’s darkness was more obvious than Willow’s or just because it focuses on a male POV about an unrequited relationship but I found my reaction to it interesting.
While the city sleeps, and I’m the only one and I walk alone
2. Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Xandra - All – They fight alongside one another, against one another, and apart. Angel and Buffy have always had a number of things in common, and their separateness is one of them.
Give me these moments, give them back to me
3. This Woman’s Work by foomatic - All – I loved how well this song ended up expressing the loss of Willow and Tara’s relationship.
I’ve been out of my cage and I’ve been doing just fine
4. Mr. Brightside by Luminosity - All – A vid from Angel’s POV about the Buffy/Spike relationship, I really liked the implication that, unrealized by Angel, it is through Spike’s tie to Buffy that he eventually returns to Angel’s life. Whatever Angel might have thought of that, it would have been a shame to leave that important relationship unresolved in the moments we got of S5.
When nobody understands, you come and hold my hand
5. You Get Me by Xandra - A lighthearted vid in contrast to the rest of this list, everyone knows Dawn had a crush on Xander but she may well have switched it to someone else...
