Five Spuffy Stories in which Buffy Ages

Sweet and happy.
"She supposed she should be at some fancy, stuffy restaurant for her birthday, considering her age, but she loved this little dance club they’d found. They played “retro” (how weird was that, the music of her youth being retro now?) music that you could really dance to, both slow and fast."
Little Sister by Barb C (@rahirah) (T, 34,352 words)
featuring retirement, moisturizer, and adventures. It's been recced here before, by feliciacraft, for action-packed amazingness and technical feats of prose. I also really love the way the conflict is resolved. (And there, I told myself not to rec Barbverse because everyone already knows to read the Barbverse, but two recs snuck through anyway.)
"I'm only fifty-four. Isn't that too young to be old? I mean, God, Jess is only nine! Didn't the baby boomers pass a federal statute against being a grandmother before your own kids are all in their teens?"
White Picket Fence by Puddinhead (PG, 3972 words)
Alternative link (LiveJournal).
Be warned, this one is devastating (which is why I'm reccing it, but still). There is Alzheimer's disease.
"“Did I…? Something wrong?” Her eyes clouded over a little.
He smiled down at her. “Nothing at all, luv.” And he held onto her gently as he began to shuffle his feet again. Who knew where she was inside her mind? So what if he and Angel melded into one another? Wherever it was, she seemed happy. She felt loved. In the end, did it really matter whose arms she thought she was in?"
Chapter 6 of Future Perfect by Sigyn (TheSigyn) (story rated T or R)
Alternative link (Elysian Fields).
This is entirely serene and lovely, but I suppose I should warn that Buffy dies of old age. The way the story is structured, every chapter ought to make perfect sense on its own, though I would recommend all of it. It's five good stories nested inside a good story.
"An old woman lives in a small house by the seaside."
Stranger, Take My Helping Hand by @hannah a.k.a. Cosmic Tuesdays (M/R, 4288w as of October 27, WIP!)
Alternative link (Elysian Fields).
There is fox POV and interesting details about how Buffy and Spike live in the future. I think there are going to be adventures. :)
"She didn’t need her hearing aids to know the vampire was approaching."
Sweet and happy.

Date: 2019-11-01 07:35 pm (UTC)I've no idea about the comics. I could imagine that maybe people just *really* want Spuffy to have one problem less in the happily-ever-after part of their relationship.
