I love sparkling dialog, but a story without it can feel timeless. Most of these are about Slayers we haven't met before, but are fascinating in their own right. Links are to AO3, when possible.
The Queen, The Soldier by
beer_good_foamy (PG, Gen)
Once upon a time, a long long time ago, there was a town. And in the town was a girl, who didn't want to die. The story of a slayer who did things differently when faced with a people-eating giant.
The Tale of the Vampire Slayer's Daughter by BarbC /
rahirah (PG, Gen)
...she told no one where she was going, but left a note for her eldest brother, of whom she was very fond, saying that she had run away to prove herself. A girl has an adventure involving a fairy queen and a 3-headed dog.
Campfire Tale for the End of Days by
stultiloquentia (PG, Gen)
So. A very long time ago, Demons walked the earth. Stomped, also. Flew. Slithered, swam, percolated, oozed. A Slayer origin story.
Mrs. Cuddlesworth the Vampire Slayer by the_visitor (PG, Gen)
Into every generation is born a Slayer...one girl in all the world with the strength to fight the demons, the vampires, and the forces of darkness. So it has been for millennia. But in 1886, it all almost came crashing to a halt, in a story that will not be found in any Watcher’s diary.
Traditional Love Stories by talia_ae / tashlae on LJ (PG-13, Spike/Buffy) Contains some light Angel-bashing.
Love between a slayer and a vampire is by definition non-traditional, largely because of all of the attempted murder.
Bonus:
A Buffyverse Alphabet by
shadowscast (PG-13, Gen)
Not a fable, exactly, but just as unforgettable. A cautionary tale in the style of Edward Gorey's Gashlycrumb Tinies.

Date: 2017-11-01 12:00 pm (UTC)I remember reading Mrs Cuddlesworth years ago, I think I'm due a re-read. And the Alphabet is just brilliant.
