Five Communities that Create Themed-Fic

These five communities have all created repeated great collections of fic centered around a particular theme. Some are not currently active, while others are spouting stuff out quite regularly.

femslash_minis - community that does monthly mini-ficathons centered around a female character from BtVS or AtS (or Firefly on occasion), always slash oriented


maleslashminis - What femslash_minis is to girls, this group is for the fellas. They're only a few months old, but they've churned out some great stuff.

open_on_sunday - Though an obvious one, this drabble community is worth its great reputation.

Secret Slasha (offsite link) - For five years now this group has done a BtVS/AtS ficathon every Christmas, and the archives are always fun.

summer_of_spike - This community produced two season's worth of massive amounts of just about every conceivable Spike-type of fan-created material: fics or every genre and pairing, icons, wallpapers, vids, the infamous animated cartoons, you name it.

Great posting idea. It's a pity SoS wasn't on again this year but it's rather an archive itself these days -- so many people contributed such a variety of clever things to it.

I think one of the outstanding things OoS has done is get a lot of writers started. The drabble's a lot less intimidating than a longer fic and people feel encouraged to get their feet wet.
