5 original characters in the Buffyverse
Oct. 28th, 2017 10:42 amI struggled to get this list down to five entries. So many authors have inserted incredible characters into the Buffyverse. I hope you enjoy these five ... although actually there are more than five characters because the last story has a number of originals.
Title: Business as Usual
Creator’s Name: Lilachigh
Agnes Pringle, yes! A sweet middle-aged spinster with a tea shop in an English cathedral city who was Turned on a trip to America, sets up shop in Sunnyvale. She has a bit of a thing for Spike. Don’t we all.
Title: Bit Parts
Creator’s Name: Mint Witch
The chick Spike takes to the wedding meets Spike, aka The Hottie, at a bookclub he’d started going to with Joyce and Dawn. She knows he’s into Buffy but goes for him anyway. I adore the frenetic energy we see in her thoughts.
Title: We Make Our Own Magic
Creator’s Name: Ruuger
I was sixteen when the war started. A skinny little pikkulotta who'd never even kissed a boy and whose dreams were no bigger than a pretty new dress. I worked at an old school that had been turned into a hospital, not far from the road they used to take supplies to the soldiers. We were close to the border - too close, said the older women - but we trusted our boys to keep us safe. There’s a delightful contrast between her younger self not knowing her own strength and depending on “our boys” to protect her and the woman she has become. And I can’t go any further with that thought without giving away the ending. This is an incredible story.
Title: Geometry of Chance
Creator’s Name: NL Rummi
Shortly after the events in Chosen, Ethan finds a Slayer. Ever on to take advantage, he takes her on as an assistant. Meanwhile, Giles, hunting for newly empowered Slayers to train comes looking. The writing is incredible, I adore Frankie, and am thrilled with Ethan's emotional rc but, I have to admit, I also can’t resist Ethan antagonizing Giles.
Title: These Songs of Freedom
Creator’s Name: nwhepcat
Mmm, I love this story so much I think of it as "the Xander in Africa" story which can't be fair to all the other excellent stories with Xander set in Africa. After finding a Slayer, Xander is injured in a demon attack. Politics generally puts me to sleep so to say that this story delves even a bit into politics and I still adores it says quite a bit about how well it is written!
