Five favorite Giles-centric stories of the past year, arranged from shortest to longest. Well, five and a bonus.

Reluctant Masquerade by xspike4evax. A bit of Giles POV on Wesley circa BtVS season 3, perfectly spot-on.

Déjà vu by darkheartwalsh (DHW). There is a dead woman in his bed. It isn't the first time.
Stunning and absolutely heartbreaking portrayal of Giles soon after "The Gift". Also, it's probably the most efficient parallel I've ever seen used in buffyverse fics.

Sharp Knife of a Short Life (the ‘If I Die Young’ Remix) by sroni. A Watcher usually outlives their Slayer. This is common.
And another gut-wrenching post-Gift story, were giles remains so perfectly himself (especially in that little bit about Kendra).

Spike and Ripper by darkandstormyslash. A series of ficlets exploring the relationship between Giles and Spike. Couple of them are angsty, the third one - not so much, but all are equally true to the characters and incredibly engaging.

Of Mice and Men by sparrow2000. Xander can’t understand why Giles loves books so much. Giles helps him understand.
A flawless character study fic where sparrow2000 found just the perfect way to showcase Giles' and Xander's differences and similarities.
