Okay, maybe not "we're all mad" but each of these features madness.

1. nwhepcat's Keeper of the Book is new to me so my comments are from my first read - Wow, the tension is amazing. Half-way through and I still don’t know what’s driving Xander. He tried to kill Cordelia. Giles, and in fact the entire Council in London, are missing. I have no idea what’s going to happen. … And I just finished it. Wow. Wow wow wow. Read this. Now.

2. librarian2003's Word Association - I don’t want to give away the story so I’ll just say it’s amazing.

3. bobthemole's The Barter Economy - told from the PoV of an OC who guides Drusilla through the Amazonian rain forest. One of my long-time faves.

4. eurydice72 A Stone’s Throw From Yesterday - Xander's sent to Africa to bring back a Watcher. The Watcher refuses to return to the Council but leads Xander to Spike. Eventual Spuffy.

5. beer_good_foamy's Best Fiends Forever - Drusilla and Miss Edith

After I put together this list, I thought of whichclothes' Madhouse. Big with the not worksafe-ness. The story is amazing but squickier than I remembered.

Another good topic with authors who don't get a lot of notice these days, thanks for posting.

Not sure if you're aware, but there's a sequel to Keeper of the Book called Another Door (http://archiveofourown.org/works/68087).
Follows on from the 'verse established in the previous story. Wesley's new detective agency gets a new case, Lindsey plots badness and Spike and Xander get friendly. Slash.

Some of these I read and loved already, and some are new and go straight to the reading list, thanks!

"Madhouse" was completely effective and chilling.

Great rec list.

That is a surprising and sad twist in the Buffy/Angel story. There's several here I haven't seen before!
