I was trying to cull through all the 2015
slayerstillness entries when I realized that nearly half of the "top 5" from that comm actually came Challenge 39 "Love is in the Air" (the Valentine's challenge). So why fight it? This was one of my favorite challenges/prompts from any of the icontests this year, in a completely "Can we do it again? Can we do it again?" way. Artists made icons of canon and non-canon pairings and everybody brought their A-game. So, herewith are 5 of my favorites from that round (with kudos to moderator
starry_night for her inspired prompts:)
Once again, the list is ins alphabetical order of artists' names) and as with my previous post, I'll eschew my usual verbosity and let the images speak for themselves:
1) Buffy/Tara #3 (Please may I make a home in you?) by
kwritten
2) Willow/Oz by
rua1412
3) Cordy/Xander by
sweet_lyri
4) Spuffy #2 by
teragramm
5) Fred/Gunn by

Date: 2016-01-18 06:29 am (UTC)These are lovely, and I could have added at least two more if I weren't limited to five. That challenge was a truly inspired one as were the entries that came forth.

Date: 2016-01-18 08:48 pm (UTC)I would hope it's more of a comment about people's interest in their ship
The question still being, WHY aren't people as interested in that ship to begin with? And I will say that I haven't watched AtS so I haven't checked out Gunn, nor have I checked out Wesley's arc there so I don't have a dog in that fight. But I know that people are affected by prejudices and they will twist themselves into pretzel knots to assert that they aren't. (Nobody on earth is 100% unprejudiced. Nobody. That doesn't make someone a bad person, it makes them human. Acting on those prejudices in ways that hurt others or pretending that inequalities don't exist to protect ones self-image 's the problem.
I also know that lots of people think Wesley is a total "bad ass" for going "dark". Because it's cool when male characters do that. I've never heard of anyone speak of Gunn in the same terms, but then I hear very few people speak of him at all.
