This drabble is about Lydia (the Watcher). Her past, present, and future in 100 words. It just stuck with me.

FIRST COURSE:
Identity (2,987 words)
Author:
ash_carpenter
Characters: Spike/Wesley, Rating: Explicit
Posted on August 18, 2013
The story takes place between BtVS seasons 3 and 4. Wesley has left Sunnydale for LA and Spike is drifting. Although they’ve never met, Wesley recognizes Spike from the journals, sitting at the other end of a bar. This is a character study of Wesley… and Spike, at a time of transition. In the end, each is left with a new sense of direction. Slightly angsty and uplifting, it’s as hot as hell because each character is so recognizable.
“How about you invite me to your room?”
“You don’t need an invitation to enter a public building.”
“That’s not really what I meant.”
“Oh... Oh, I see.” Wesley swallowed hard.
“I promise I won’t eat you.”
SECOND COURSE:
The Last Watcher (1,497 words)
Author:
shapinglight on LJ, Glassdarkly on Ao3
Characters: Giles/Ethan, Rating: (hard) PG-13

The setting: a pub in London, post-series, where Giles waits for Ethan to arrive at a pre-arranged a meeting. When Ethan finally shows up, so does Giles’ hard edge. As the evening unfolds, we learn a little about the path each of them has taken and how the outcome has framed their current relationship. The story is communicated through razor sharp dialogue and subtle gestures that are full of meaning. It has
shapinglight written all over it. This piece is complex and layered, and it made me think about the characters and their situations long after I was done reading.
"Be quiet." Giles's voice was bland, like his face, but, to his satisfaction, whatever else Ethan might have had to say died on his tongue. He sat silent, nursing his pint, and glaring his resentment.
THIRD COURSE:
Battleground (2,049 words)
Author:
_sharvie_
Characters: Spike/Xander, Rating: R

I don’t totally get Spander. For one thing, Xander likes be the jokester and Spike is full of snark. It’s like trying to hold the same end of two magnets together. However, in the AU that forms the backdrop of this story, there is nothing to laugh about. Spike and Xander must depend on each other for their very survival. Told from Xander’s POV, we see Spike and Xander in serious-mode. And what strikes me is that they are both completely in character. By the end of the story, I am desperately rooting for Spike and Xander as a couple.
“I don't know how long we've been here, but no one has come to get us. And after a while, we stopped hoping.”
DESSERT:
For dessert, I offer a video.

This is a celebration of Spike’s sensuality. Nothing more, and nothing less
