Buffy the Cliche Slayer by Steve-0 FF.net rating K+. Fiction about fiction. A ficwriter argues with characters who refuse to act and sound convincingly. Finally the author sends each character into a specific type of a story - "Mary-Sue", "next generation", fluff, slash, etc.

I was dying to read the last one :> elisi posted a similar story in her recs and I was looking for one I'd enjoyed called "Behind the Scenes at Shipper Central" but it doesn't seem to be online anymore :(

My experience is that there are real gems on general fanfiction sites. Take Buffy the Cliche Slayer for example. The writer isn't a BNA, but his wit, inventiveness and no-holds-barred humor make this fic a must for fans.

Absolutely. I think a lot of writers and readers have moved to LJ in the last 2 years and because there's so much produeced here every day they stop venturing elsewhere. It's great to have those gems brought to light or remembered -- there's been verse fic around since 1997!

If you haven't read Buffy the Cliche Slayer, give it a chance. It's a fic written by a casual fan and he's extremely sharp and observant (albeit too cruel time by time).

The problem with Jossverse is that there is such wealth of great fics that it's impossible to choose only 5 of them!
