I just said in my post today that I hoped more people would do meta rec lists and you've done just that! *squees* Bless you, these are excellent choices, and at least two of them are entirely new to me. Most excellent!

Really dumb but I have to ask (even though I think I get the gist of it): What does meta mean?

Ooh, nice description!

We also have a fandom glossary linked from the community's front page which goes here: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Category:Glossary

I'd lost my link to that when the old 'puter burnt up in August so thank you!

Their definition of meta is close to my very loose definition: any fan works about a show(text) itself and the fandom/culture surrounding it. I used to think of it entirely in terms of nonfiction writing but I've come to realize that artwork, gifs, icons, vids and even fanfic can function as meta.

A weird chain of events led to me reading some Buffy meta today, which left me jonesing for more. Perfectly timed, thank you!
I miss fandom.

I don't think I read any meta last year, so thanks for the list.
