Five classic Xander/Oz fics

Xander/Oz was the very first piece of slash I ever read and while at the time the slash itself got me hot under the collar, as time went by I came to realise that there was something about this pairing that is truly wonderful when done well. To me, these five stories are examples of them done brilliantly.

The Summer Sun and That Boy’s Look by entrenous88 is just beautiful. Oz looks out of the window of a bookshop and Xander is there. The imagery is this is just breathtaking and these boys will make you want to sigh.


In Long Winter's Nap by rabidx, Xander gives Oz advice about spaghetti sauce in Kentucky and spends Thanksgiving in New York. There’s a gentleness to this story that really appeals to me and I completely believe it when the boys get together.

If you want something a little darker, try Let Forever Be by Dolores. This is Wish ‘verse and obsessive vamp Xander has Oz in his sights. It’s hypnotic and as delicious as 85% cocoa solid dark chocolate.

No Cold and Heat by idyll is haunting in the best way possible. Xander and the gang find Oz hurting and a long way from home and bring him back to Cleveland. This starts out very bleak, but gradually there’s light behind the clouds and the promise of hope for the future. It’s just lovely.

And of course finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Strays by Te. Oz needs Xander to remind him of his humanity. After a while Xander realises he just needs Oz. This is one of those stories that is permanently on my e-reader which probably tells you all you need to know about me! *g*

Seriously, I can wholeheartedly recommend all of these. And if you enjoy them, I have a few more Xander/Oz that I can point you at that I also love enormously. This isn't a hugely written pair, but most of the fics that do exist are worth your time.
