Back today with five of my favourite stories by [livejournal.com profile] shadowscast. I love her stories so much. She writes the best Spander (not a pairing I otherwise read) and can, when she wants, deliver a killer punch to the emotional gut.

Sunshine, Spike/Xander, NC17 for one short, but explicit sex scene. Thirteen years have passed since Spike mysteriously disappeared in Africa. What's he been doing all that time? On a visit to London for a happy occasion, Xander gets to find out.

It Never Happened, Spike/Giles, R. Set in the seasons 5/6 hiatus, with Buffy dead. Something strange happens to Spike that changes his relationship with Giles and the Scoobies irrevocably. Or does it? I think this one made me cry.

Sock Puppet, Spike/Xander, Mature. Set post-NFA, a figure from the past (and behaving very strangely) turns Xander's new life upside down.
This one definitely made me cry.

Longest Day Ever, Spike/Xander, mature. The Spander version of Groundhog Day. At least partly. You'll see what I mean when you read.

Seeing Is His Super Power, Spike/Xander, PG-13. On a return visit to the Sunnydale crater, Xander chances across a certain amulet. Comedy and angst ensue in equal measures.
Well, maybe there's a little more angst.

Ooooo, the first one looks very intriguing! I don't read much Spander either, but when a story is that good, it really doesn't matter what ship (as long as Spike is in it!)

Superb stories every one. I still remember bawling my eyes out at the end of Sockpuppet.

Another good author that doesn't get a lot of notice, thanks for posting.

I'll point out that there are also some podfics to these works.

So good. I also really like Fragments and London Calling. I haven't read the Spike/Giles -- that's a tough pairing for me -- but I'll give it a try.

Funny, I was just thinking about Shadowscast just last night. I think it's a testament to how good these stories are that I don't usually care about Spike/Xander at all, but I love her take on the pairing. And I think that Sock Puppet made everyone cry... saddest. fic. ever.

I hadn't read that first one but I have read and reread It Never happened - love that story - love her charachterisations. Really spot on, for me. And Sock Puppet - brilliant and angsty and sad and uplifting. Brilliant writer and yes I think she made me like the pairing quite a bit and see that it could be so. Thanks for the reminder and I must check out the other two.

All great fics, and see you rec them here Deb, just makes me want to read them again. Nods importantly and adds to my already far to long 'to read' list.

I gave Sock Puppet one of my Slay Me awards years ago. Best Spander, and probably one of the best fics period, I've ever seen. Shadowscast is amazing.

Both "It Never Happened" and "Sock Puppet" are amazing and unforgettable. I'm not sure I've ever read "Sunshine", so I'm very excited to check it out. I also have a soft spot for her "A Buffyverse Alphabet". \o/

Nice list, sweetie!
