5 Fics that include a non-BtVS verse
Either the story isn't BtVS at all or it's a BtVS crossover

1) Lyl Devil's In Another Life: When Willow's life is wiped clean, she makes a new one for herself in L. A. Crossover with Numb3rs; Willow/Don. Another story that was an absolute delight to reread. ;-)

Willow felt some sadness seep through her euphoric haze. She would have liked to have said goodbye first; tell Buffy and Xander and Dawn and Giles and Kennedy, all of them, how much she loved them, but knew that it wasn't possible.

She'd made a bargain with a being that was older and more powerful than she could even understand, and it had come to collect. She couldn't regret it, and wouldn't take it back if she could. She'd done everything in her power to help save the world, and now it was time to rest.

"I'm ready," she said, watching hypnotized as the light grew larger and brighter until it was all she could see or feel. It wasn't hot or cold, or even remotely comforting, but Willow just relaxed and let it take her, feeling the last of the magic sparking in her blood. Then the light exploded and she was blinded by the glow.

Minutes later, as the battle with the First was nearing its end, Kennedy came running into the room intent on collecting her girlfriend. All that was left were the candles and herbs.

Willow was gone.

2) BlackEyedGirl's You'll Find the Bright Places: The Avengers have been turned into children. Fury's frustration over Coulson's report is delightful.

3) Cryogenics by Beer Good Foamy: Set in the Dr. Horrible verse. What happens to the laundromat after Penny is dead? And, really, why should anything happen to it?

4) Liz Marcs' A Gift of Ordinary Magic is a crossover: BtVS / AtS / Harry Potter. In their desperation, to deal with Voldemort, Potter and his friends do a spell that drains magic from the world, and now everyone in Xander's world is dying. In an alternate non-magic dimension, the one Xander's world is merging with, Xander is having a life-crisis. As someone who's going through her own mid-life crisis, I had tears in my eyes reading this one.

Xander doesn’t have a magic cell in his body, but even he can feel that the magic is leaving his world.

For a crazy moment, he thinks that maybe he should try to build a dam to prevent the last of the magic from draining away. He’s always been good at building things and it was a talent he put to good use while he tooled around Africa tracking down stories about girls with supernatural powers. Helping with a thatched roof or putting up the walls of a mud hut were skills that were always in demand and he could always count on a few meals and a bed for a few days when he pitched in.

The problem with his otherwise fine plan is that the hole in the world is mystical and he doesn’t have the tools to wall it closed. Besides, he’s pretty sure mud and straw, or bricks and mortar, aren’t going to do the job.

Willow mutters something that sounds like a plea. All he can do is brush her disheveled, sticky hair from her forehead and promise he’ll do something. The vague promise brings him right to the edge of tears because he knows there isn’t a damn thing he can do to stop this.

The magic is leaving the world and taking his whole world with it.

5) LitGal's Airman Harris: BtvS crossover with Stargate. Another one where Xander's abilities are appreciated by outsiders. Daniel is thrilled to find someone who understands archaic languages and Teal'c thinks he's a fine warrior although an untrained one. The scene in the training room is awesome, with Xander comparing real-world figthing to the "formal dance" that the military calls fighting. The congnitive dissonace between the Stargate and Sunnydale mentalities just cracks me up, even in small things like this: “Xander, are you okay?” Daniel came running down the hall, and Xander took his finger off the trigger. He was so tense, he had nearly shot Daniel, which wasn’t all that unreasonable considering the man had popped out from where Xander expected enemy. Whoever this guy was, he was not a frontline fighter. One near miss from a Buffy stake had taught Xander not to make that rookie move.

I picked this bit to quote because Xander and Teal'c bond - in a mentoring sort of way - because they both grew up in war zones. They understand each other on a very fundamental level.
“Tell me you secured the bad guys or killed the bad guys or did something semi-permanent with the bad guys,” Xander yelled after him. He got a hand-wave from Daniel, which Xander could only hope meant agreement. Reaching out, he pulled the P-90 closer.

Teal’c stepped out from the door Xander had been covering, his eyes going to Daniel before he calmly strolled down the corridor to Xander. “Are your injuries sufficient to require immediate evacuation to the infirmary?”

“As opposed to what? Going out for beers first?” Xander thought the infirmary was probably better than a bar right now. Morphine over beer was his rule for huge charred holes in his body.

Teal’c tilted his head. “I can carry you there immediately. The infirmary is in disarray and corpsmen may not arrive for many minutes.”

“Ah.” Xander nodded. “Got it. I’ll survive many minutes as long as the bad guys aren’t going to pop back up and start shooting.”

“They are not,” Teal’c promised.

Xander eyed the guy. He was definitely on the demony side, but he reminded Xander more of Clem demony or maybe Drusilla demony. He had a little of that not-quite-connecting-to-the-same-reality vibe that Dru had. “If I asked what you were, would you take offense?” Xander asked.

Teal’c eyebrows went up. “I would not.”

“Would you answer?”

“I would not,” Teal’c repeated.

With a nod, Xander leaned back against the wall. “Fair enough. So, let me know when the guys with the good drugs get here, okay?”

Teal’c gave him another of those Dru-looks, the one that meant he wasn’t catching reality in its entirety. “I shall,” he agreed solemnly, and Xander had the feeling that the man would take it as a personal mission to fulfill his word, even if he wasn’t a man.

Not so sure about No. 2 being a totally non-Buffyverse tale, could you find one to substitute?

Hiya!

Nope, no worries. In the past we've had Classic Recs start out as Buffyverse only and then temporarily included other Whedon fandoms before trying them as a separate celebration in Worlds Without Shrimp. Since that hasn't been getting many participants, we've folded them back together into a general "blast from the past" celebration.

So you're fine!
