Ah the abandoned WIP. Some of them are already epics, some only 5 or 6 chapters but chances are most of them had readers still waiting for an ending (or sometimes a middle). Finished or not though, many of them are worth reading anyway for the great stories or character moments they did have.

1.Season Noir by Anna S. - NC-17 – An ambitious attempt at a Buffy S8 that had one of the most fascinating final chapters I’ve ever read. A pity it’ll never get to its intended conclusion but I’m not too unhappy it ended on the note that it did.

2. Dancing Lessons by multiple authors - NC-17 - One of the first S/B stories I came across. As it went on it became quite the ensemble piece and I was sorry that it didn’t continue. Lengthy story though with plenty to recommend it for reading since earlier parts do have their own conclusion.

3.Coquette’s Trilogy - NC-17 – Which is really just one and a half parts completed, but looked back at Spike’s early days with the rest of the Fanged Four. An interesting approach for fans of historical fic.

4. Male Bonding by Jackson - NC-17 - Part of an S/X trilogy with Divided and Two's Company this third part has never gotten past the first two chapters. Its ending however has a certain finality to it even if we could have used more.

5. The Great and Terrible by Rachel Anton - NC-17 – A much shorter WIP than the rest on this list. An apocalypse has happened and Angel, Spike and Willow are the only survivors. Not a post-NFA fic actually as this was written prior to BtVS S7 but it had interesting possibilities.

I have only read 2,but isn't it sad when that happens, for me it's got to be Seven years in the Desert, I loved that story.

ARGH I loved the great and terrible. I still mourn that it never got finished. I can usually forgive an unfinished wip if the hot porn has already occurred, but if I'm left wanting, I wail and nash my teeth. that threesome would have been so good. *cries for it all over again*

good recs :)

Good choices! And great idea for a list. Though I can think of quite a few others just off hand!

Great list. I always had an inkling that Season Noir would never be finished but it was wonderful while it lasted. I've always mourned Mortal Wounds by [livejournal.com profile] treacle_a too.

I was thinking of an idea just like this one. :) Also intended to have Male Bonding by Jackson but now I'll think of something else. I never read that fic by Anna S, guess I should try it out, she's an amazing writer.

Thank you so much for the link to Dancing Lessons, I've been looking for ages to find this fic and I didn't know how.

The Cimmer? My sister and I have read it twice. You'll laugh your socks off if you like Spike and Xander. :D
