Darla is a character I always want to see more in fanfic. And when I do, I generally leap all over it with great gusto. Especially if Spike is involved. Heh.

Why I chose this: Short, but extremely powerful, this is a really interesting insight into Darla and her potential, before there was anyone else but the Master and her.

Why I chose this: The premise of this story is absolutely fantastic, and so far the five parts have really delivered. What if Fate or the PTB decide that Darla deserves a go at Angel’s job? Will she succeed? Can she? Some lovely explorations of her relationships with Spike and Lindsey and also Connor’s importance to Darla too, which is something I find infinitely fascinating.

Why I chose this: Darla is actually amusing in this story. And my, oh my, can she be. As opposed to mean or petty or dominating, which she is as well! Especially when she has Spike as a target.

Why I chose this: This story did a brilliant job at trying to capture Darla at her lowest moment, and yet giving her still a strong, snappy outlook, ever the fighter, ever the survivor. Can’t recommend this fic enough.

Why I chose this: Possibly the best piece of Fanged Four era Darla characterisation I’ve read this year, in that the story reflects her outward beautiful, perfect exterior but also the interior of a hard as nails, vindictive, manipulator extraordinaire.

Not a problem. I read Spike/Angel from time to time - it's more the BDSM I can't cope with. (Or Spander. I can't read that *at all*!)

Well, I'm never likely to write Spander. The BDSM thing is more of a problem. Again, there are hints of it in this fic but nothing explicit so hopefully you'll be able to read it.

You know, I seem to have done something very odd when I changed my icons. I've deleted all but one of the Darla ones. For the life of me, I don't know why. Maybe I thought I was going to come across lots of new ones?

Anyway, thanks for the rec again, luv, and I really must read dessert_first's story so far. I'm pretty sure I'll love it even though Lindsey's in it.

And yes you really should read Darla: The Series. I find it quite fascinating and Darla has fun 'playing' Lindsey

I only just recently discoverd dessert_first but I really enjoyed the two fics I've read.
Yes, with Darla you've got to have a certain amount of interest yet loftiness and all the while have it so that she's dictating everything, even though it doesn't seem that way. Hmmmm.
