buffyversetop5Okay, when I first started reading fic, I only read Spuffy, and the thought of slash or other pairings held no interest for me. Then I stumbled across some of the fics on this list, and they totally changed my opinion. I still read Spuffy, but only with a healthy dose of Spander and other pairings. So the stories on this list not only got me into Spander, but non-Spuffy pairings in general.

Why I Chose This: I can't express enough how amazing this author is! I could have done a Top 10 list with nothing but her fics. Her Spander is just incredible. This one appeals to me with an extremely original plot, and the tenderness between the characters. It's a definite tissue fic.

Why I Chose This: Picture a world where the Initiative is King. All non-humans and non-human sympathizers are under attack. This is a difficult fic to read. It gets very dark, and I think I went through an entire box of tissues reading it. But it still left me hopeful. I'm a sucker for an original plotline, angst, and great original characters. This fic delivers all three.

Why I Chose This: I love the way the author tells this story. Different perspectives and different times are all woven together beautifully. Coupled with the intense emotions in the story, and the amazing voices given to the characters, I was simply sorry to see it end.

Summary: A while ago I wrote Protected fortxrabbit's birthday, and in it I created a 'verse where Xander collects glyphs and protective tattoos that will keep him alive and safe forever so that he can be with Spike without being turned. This is the story of what happens when the Scoobies notice the newest addition to the collection.
Why I Chose This: It was such an interesting idea! And the whole concept simply intrigued me. Also, fairly fluffy, so it cheered me up.

I also read "Awakenings" and thought it was a nice twist on post-NFA Spander, with some wonderfully funny bits. It was interesting to see how the story unfolded, who had done what to who and why they were in their current predicament.
Your last rec sounds familiar, I'll have to follow up on that.
