5 of My Favorite Fics Outside of My OTP

buffyversetop5Okay, I have to admit that I rarely step out of my Spuffy cave, but these are 5 fics that made me leave Spuffy at the door. They are all slash or femmeslash. I want to give a whole lotta hugs and kisses to these authors who created such gorgeous fics that made me want to get up out of my seat and do The Dance of Slash.

Why I chose this: I actually just found this through a rec from this comm bylillianmorgan, and it really blew me away. It's something very unique and unlike anything I've read before. Funny, quirky, and romantic.

Why I chose this: This is such an intriguing fic. Angel is so emotionally closed off, and Spike is the only one who can get to him. Really lovely characterization of the two, and an especially bitter Spike makes this one both fun and painful.

Why I chose this: This ficlet is such delicious fun! Her Fred and Lilah voices are so spot on, that this fic leaves me convinced that this interlude between the two actually happened. Really, really enjoyable read.

Why I chose this: This is such a lovely story, both touching and humorous at the same time. It flitters back and forth between BtVS season four, and post AtS Not Fade Away. Really fun moments of banter between the two, combined with poignant moments of hesitancy and indecision. Loved this.

Why I chose this: Umm... I think everyone and their mother has read this fic, but it's just that good! It's 52 chapters long, but I read it in only two sittings. Highly addictive. She also throws in loads of Jossverse characters, and it's neato to see how they all fit so perfectly into the fic. This one is a must read.
Again, my huge thanks to all of these authors for all of the time, thought, and effort that they so lovingly put into these fics. Mwah!

I know it is probably an odd feeling to rec your own fic, but I really am interested. Also, I don't shy away from much, so don't be afraid to rec me something dark.

Date: 2006-01-02 04:13 am (UTC)I think my best work is KEPT (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=sexymermaid&keyword=Kept&filter=all), frankly, though I know my readers all have their faves and some don't read it. It features most of the cast, its AU and its quite dark... and strange. It is the verse meets Shogan. Spike is a courtesan, Xander his gardener. It starts off as spander, but it has many ships. The only other one I could recommend is possibly Pet (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?keyword=PET&user=sexymermaid&sortby=des), which is a complete spillyria. Its very different and I had the luxury of writing a ship not many people have done.
I won't make you run screaming by recing anything else. I do an embarrassing amount of ships and fics, long, short, dark and smoompy.
And same goes, if you write Sparla, for example, I've just started reading a bit of it and I blame Lillianmorgan for that! I'd love to know what you do as well if you have one you can rec me. :)

Date: 2006-01-02 04:34 am (UTC)My OTP is Spuffy, which I know a lot of people have a problem with, but you can't help what you like! :D I really enjoy reading Spike with just about anyone though. And lillianmorgan is right, Sparla is such a delicious pairing!
I don't write any fanfic ::hangs head::, but I am willing to read just about every pairing. I'm easy that way. ;) I guess I don't have any hang-ups about hating certain characters. Hmm... maybe I'm too easy to please. But I think it's fantastic that you said that you do so many different ships, because I'm into reading quite a variety lately. It gets mighty boring being glued to Spuffy sometimes.
