First time posting here, so I hope it's done correctly! The tags won't load when I try to select them. I don't know if that's a common problem, but I can come back later to try to fix them.

These post-NFA drabble-ish-length vignettes from Spike's first week as a Shanshu-d human are absolutely beautiful- realistic, romantic, and with an ending that still makes me go adflkajdlfkjaldk.
"First she reminds him that just because it can’t kill him anymore, the sun can still hurt like hell and maybe it’s not such a good idea to fall asleep shirtless on the balcony. Then she peppers every inch of burned skin with kisses and whispers that the sun lit up his hair like a halo."

This scene of Buffy trying to define punk rock for Illyria and explain why it's important to Spike is priceless; it's alternately touching and hilarious, Illyria is wonderfully in character, and the Buffy-Illyria interaction is a delight.
""It's like this." Buffy indicated the cosy living room with its well-used couch – well-used for what was none of Illyria's business. "Spike's a pussycat, right?" Off Illyria's puzzled frown, "No, really. I mean, he's domesticated like woah. Tickle him in the right place and he'll roll over and show you his belly.""
Back in May the prompts (based off of Alice in Wonderland) encouraged AUs, which resulted in some terrifically imaginative what-if scenarios. These next two are my favorites to have come out of those prompts, although I highly recommend checking that month out in general:

Another brilliant story from
smells_corrupt, this early seasons AU imagines a world where the slayer before Buffy failed to stop an apocalypse and Buffy, Angel, and familiar members from both the Scoobies and the Fang Gang try to hold the world together. Spike shows up when some of the white hats' mojo gives Dru a soul, and, well, even in this world certain things are inevitable. :D The character interactions are clever and sweet, and again, the ending makes me go adflkajdlfkjaldk.
"Fingers dug into his bicep, and he spun to face the Slayer, her fist connecting with his face. He hit back. Their brawl ended on the floor, her holding a stake to his heart. But she didn’t push it through."

Okay, so this whole story makes me flail. It's a post-NFA reunion story...only Buffy was the vampire and Spike was the Slayer. Poignant, romantic, with deliciously spot-on character voices (Buffy is still Buffy and Spike is still Spike, even though they've switched roles, and it's really neat), and a lovely side of Dawn, this story is gorgeous.
"His deadly girl had gone down in a blaze of glory, saving the world with that soul she’d earned herself. The spark she’d gone out and got to be worthy of his love. Kicked himself a million times over for not telling her sooner that she had been."

This is another wonderful AU fic from
anviloverheaven, set in the Wishverse this time. The backstory and characterization for Wishverse!Buffy are achingly believable, her interactions with Spike are charged, and the end is perfect.
"He stalks you for months. You feel his presence around you as he keeps to the shadows. There are a few skirmishes, now and again, but you never manage to come out on top and that’s only ever sometimes deliberate. On those occasions he shakes his head in mock sadness and says that he’ll wait."
