I've spent a lot of time this year reccing this story, and now I'm going to rec it again.
In the Morning of the Magicians by
indri, Giles/Ethan, R.
indri is one of the all time greats of the fandom, and this novel length fic shows you why. Set in London in the early 70s, it tells in brilliantly imagined detail of Ripper's first meeting with Ethan Rayne and of their catastrophic raising of Eyghon. The sense of place and period is just wonderful.
Wasteland by
nomelon, Spike/Riley, PG-13.
nomelon writes this pairing like no one else. Read this short, beautifully written ficlet and then do yourself a favour and go and read her other Spike/Riley stories.
Five Super Powers Xander Is Not Sorry, On Reflection, He Doesn't Have by
shadowscast, Xander, Gen. Another welcome return by an old fandom great, this is funny and touching and features my favourite Xander in fanfic.
One, But a Lion by
beer_good_foamy, OC Slayer and her Watcher, PG-13. As the blurb for the story says, a Slayer and her watcher take a trip and learn that even in ancient times, some things were more ancient still. Another very different story from this always innovative writer.
Everywhere We Have Been by
girlpire, Angel/Buffy, FRT. A third welcome return for an absent writer, and reading this, you can see why she's so much missed.
