The best part is that they're still available, unforunately some of my favorites are now gone because the creators have left LJ.

Yes, like I mentioned in the earlier meta post, there needs to be a central place to keep the stuff that won't disappear the way so many sites do.

Ha! Well, we could certainly encourage re-posting as well as new posting there. But LJ is a poor platform for any kind of searching task, particularly for meta which is not as easily categorized as fic, nor for which tags would be reused often.

I was thinking of a multifandom archive that had tagging features, which would be helpful largely for fandom, and those essays focused on characters, seasons, or pairings. But it would also have a good search function for full text and could sort based on year of writing, author name, etc. LJ was designed for discussion and does that fairly well, but it's not well designed at all for the various functionalities needed in an archive.

I had COMPLETELY forgotten about that last essay. 5 1/2 years ago... feels like twice that. And yet, how has it been so long?

I just recently discovered "Girl Talk" and it is a delightful bit of metafic. I go back often to the_royal_anna's piece, but I'm not sure I've read the others! Thanks for the links!
