So, [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue revisited fandom in 2010 after three years of absence. She always manages to fill fandom with joy! And Xander love

1) Meta Fantastic: Massive meta rec to almost everything in the Buffyverse. Great save-in-memories post for whenever you're looking for a good meta to read.

2) Rare B-Sides: Pre-slash Xander/Giles! Aw, she wrote my second favorite pairing! Great characterization and awesome dialogue.

3) One Rec for Every Buffyverse Pairing, Ever: I wrote in my 'I don't need romantic endings' post that I'd read most of the Buffyverse pairings. I quickly realized that this couldn't possibly be true (D'Hoffryn/Skip is still on my to-read list) but I have read a large selection of pairings featuring primary and secondary characters.

4) Why I enjoy fic that doesn't neatly tie-up a pairing with a romantic ending: I'm happiest with a fic shows why these characters shouldn't work together (vampire/slayer, Scooby/Person Who Hated Said Scooby) gives me a moment of connection (whether it involves smut or not) and then either leaves the ending open to my own imagination or demonstrates, again, why this can't work within the reality of the Buffyverse and sends the characters on their separate ways, a bit wiser but either accepting or dealing with the end of the relationship (or the fact that it never really began.)

5) ASK ME ANYTHING: Ask me about Buffy's coats or Xander's shoes, Cordy's hair or Giles' eyes. Ask me why I love Xander, or why I love, hell, Vi. Wonderful questions and answers. I've enjoyed reading this post so much.

It's always great to see good writers coming back to the verse -- it's nice to think not everyone drifts away permanently :)

I've bookmarked Meta Fantastic and saved it in memories. I was surprised though, not to see Barb's Season Six in Review; An Open Letter to Mutant Enemy. IIRC,I'd stumbled on it at BAPS before I was familiar with LJ, possibly before S7 started. I remember thinking yes, yes, yes! all the way through it. It's was my introduction to her writing. I've read lots of thoughtful, insightful essays on S6 since, but this was the one that's always stayed with me.
