For those of you who don't know, Tumblr is a blogging site where people share images, videos, music, and more in an easy-to-use interface. Its Buffyverse fanbase has grown exponentially this year, as have the communities devoted to various characters, pairings, and the shows themselves.
My top five picks of this year, in no particular order:
1) Buffy Secrets/Buffy Ship Secrets (recently divided to slow down the bitter ship wars): People can submit secrets and opinions pertaining to BtVS and AtS, and much discussion follows. Not for the faint of heart! :D
2) Cordy/Angel: It's always a pleasure to see a community like this one, where the maintainers are devoted to both regular posting and intelligent posting, giving a daily fix of C/A that's more than just images and often comes in the form of reblogged discussions and squeeage. I originally followed the community as a non-shipper, but C/A won me over with enough of those wonderful, thoughtful posts.
3) Spike Memes: Romance Impaired Spike, Innuendo Spike, and many other incarnations of Spike at his most entertaining (and befuddling). This blog runs on submissions, so it's not as active as we'd all love it to be, but each post is a gem. Remember, we kid because we love!
4) Spike/Buffy: Expect a constant overload of all things Spuffy, and with a new management wholly devoted to the ship and quick to share their thoughts on the photos they reblog. This blog is unusual among the shippy blogs in that there's almost always something to reblog, and you can count on new posts appearing on our dashboard as often as ten or twenty times a day.
5) Whedon Caps: Their blurb reads, "If you love the combination of Joss Whedon and pretty screencaps then this is the right place for you." Not exclusively Buffyverse, but BtVS and AtS do make up the majority of its caps.
(Runners-up: Lilah Morgan, Stupid Faces of Whedon, Whedon Ladies, The Denisof Family, FyBuffyverse. Full list of communities here.)

Date: 2011-01-10 11:22 pm (UTC)Both secrets blogs are run by the same person and followed by the same group of people- the ship one is just exclusively for ship-related secrets and the other for non-ship secrets. Both are Spuffy friendly and unfriendly, depending on who's submitting what...

Hee. I actually follow lots of shippy blogs and find them pretty active too, so I have come to the conclusion that the ships I follow are just awesome. :)

Lucky! Which BtVS blogs are so active? I think I follow almost everything (with the exception of the Bangel Love Club blog), and only the CA and SB blogs are generally regularly updated... :/

I think I follow the same ones you do, and yeah I've noticed that those 2 are exceptionally active. But I also meant that I follow heaps of other non-Buffyverse blogs that are actually more active, which I find strange since ~what is bigger than the Buffyverse, man?~

*blinks* There's life outside the Buffyverse? Lol. I follow a few random pairing blogs, but since all my ships are mostly obscure now, they rarely post. I'd assume that shows that are still on/Harry-Potter-that-will-endure-forever are much more active in fandom for now.... But give 'em seven years and see if they're still going strong then. ;)
