Okay, here we go. Three fics that got Slay Me Awards in 2010 and one that didn’t, but could have. (Considering how many ficlets fit into that category, I could probably do another whole post. LOL) And one rec for a community that was chock full of wonderful fic.
West of the Moon, East of the Sun by KnifeEdge – a new writer to our fandom, she took us all by happy surprise with her long, plotty Spuffy fic. Based on a fairytale format, it sucks you in and keeps you coming back for more. She had me at “hello”, or, well, okay, the minute Buffy woke up in that dark room with only a bed and a vampire. If you think that means smutty pwpw fic, you are oh, so very wrong! You can find it here
Check out
seasonal_spuffy for Angearia's entry Fin Amour which can be found here This one tore my heart out, and mended it all at the same time. A very believable AU Season Five in which there is no Spuffy hanky panky, just a very real love demonstrated and appreciated. Character death – just so you know.
We Will Remember Them, Lilachigh's wonderful story in which Buffy is sent back to France in WWII to rescue the slayer. Another one in which the Spuffy is limited to UST and some angst for what might have been.
Those are the three I awarded Slay Mes to. You can check my tags for the full write-ups if you'd like to know more about them.
Here’s one that deserved more notice, but was probably a little too dark for most people. It’s almost too dark for me, but I choose to go la,la,la and pretend I know what the semi-ambiguous ending really meant… For those who need a little angst in their lives, and don’t mind a reminder that BtVS was essentially set in the horror genre, I’d suggest This Be the Verse by GhostYouKnow27.
And my fifth rec is going to be a community.
sb_fag_ends arrived with a bang, and hasn’t let down since. Mostly short, snappy, sometimes happy, sometimes ouchy ficlets written by some of the best Spuffy authors out there. I’m picking them because I know I’ve read several stories there that could easily have gone up on this list if I weren’t too lazy to go back and look through them all.
So, go me! I made an entry of

Date: 2011-01-08 10:00 pm (UTC)There seems to be a problem with some of the links though. The first shows up fine, the second has the Top 5 address showing up instead and should be:
http://community.livejournal.com/seasonal_spuffy/410563.html
The third has the same problem and should be:
http://www.bloodshedverse.com/stories.php?go=chapters&no=9997%94
The fourth just seems to go to a generic page at Bloodshedverse?
P.S. This needs a cut-tag after your first rec ;)

Date: 2011-01-08 10:04 pm (UTC)ETA - fixed, I think. Had extra " " in two of them, and I switched Lilac's to her Journal. I think they're ok now. I hope so, anyway. :)
