"Season 8 is an epic fairytale that is more than just a canon continuation of BtVS. It is a canon continuation of AtS also. Season 8 is global in the sense that it’s united the Buffyverse leading roles in a story again. This isn’t the TV show set in Sunnydale. This is Buffy the Vampire Slayer gone global. stormwreath is re-telling the whole story of one of the most controversial plot arcs of Season 8. This is aimed to the fans who haven't read the comics or stopped reading them earlier in the beginning of the season and are curious about what happened. I personally think it even works for the fans who read the whole season, too.

4) Angel. The Fall by moscow_watcher:

An insightful essay about Angel's arc in S8 that deals with the main complaints against it which boil down to two claims: a) Angel is out of character and b) to service Buffy's journey, Angel is destroyed.

5) Who is Angel? by angearia:

Another wonderful essay on Angel's arc in S8. This is also about how fans feel that Angel was written OOC in S8, and here you'll read a contrary view in which Angel's arc makes sense and isn't OOC.

thanks for listing these - all the outstanding reviews and meta on Season 8 was a huge resource for all the fans - I can't imagine having experience Season 8 without the outstanding work from the people who did all the reviews and analysis.
