Five Fics I Wish Had Been Filmed

Hi,
here are five of my all-time favourite "missing scene" fics, although none of them were, I think, written that way. As previously, funniest last :-)
If That Mockingbird Won't Sing by Doyle

Talk About Love by Mad Poetess

Date: 2010-11-01 03:37 pm (UTC)the Doyle fic was, I believe, amongst the very first non-Willtara buffyverse fics I ever read, but I read it mostly because I loved her wishverse alter ego; not to mention Dru being one of my favourite Whedonverse characters.
And I love Nancy from the Wishverse too. I've always regretted the fact that she didn't turn up in the regular buffyverse as S3 progressed.
I've always loved those out-of-the-mainstream characters; Sid the Horny Dummy/Demon Hunter; Marcie Ross; Jenny Calendar; Olivia; Larry etc...
But then three of my five favourite characters aren't really amongst the main characters, Cordy, Oz & Tara were all close to, but not in the staring line-up.
And I discovered the tragic glory of The Carton via one of the oldest of all Buffyverse websites, The Sunnydale Slayers, no longer updated, but still up there - sadly not the case for so much of the Buffyverse's fan history.
Still under Willow & Tara's spell,
Ray.

Date: 2010-11-01 03:46 pm (UTC)so many fics are out there but, with so much of fandom on lj; or similar, these days. It sometimes feels as if a lot of it is being forgotten. There was so much good stuff lost when geocities closed for instance. I think of all the history held in the British Library, captured in so fragile a manner on pamphlets from the English Civil War, and from posters covering so much history. Fandom loses a whole lot of great history every time one of these fics disappears. I have a whole folder full of wonderful Kerry Weaver fics, from a website that started as a branch of a Buffyverse web group, but it's a fraction of what I read before I started printing them up.
Sometimes I could cry at all the great fics that I'll never get to read again.

Date: 2010-11-01 03:51 pm (UTC)My personal fave image is that of Xander's mouth acting as that of a goldfish :-)
It's also kind of sweet that Andrew, even though I still don't like him very much, gets one up on the gang for once.
Of course Giles would've seen Star Wars! He would've been their age when it was released; I rather suspect that Ripper would've seen himself as Han Solo's bosom buddy :-)

Date: 2010-11-03 07:12 pm (UTC)I long to write my own wish-verse fic one day. I have three that await some kind of kick-in-my-muse's pants. One where Willow meets Wishverse VampTara (who makes Angelus look like a widdle kitty); one where we meet Larry's boyfriend in the wishverse; and a third based on Buffy during her becoming the Slayer & her arrival in Sunnydale.
But Nancy? Well, Nancy is one of my favourite Buffyverse characters-who-should-have-been-used-a-lot-more; along with Olivia, Larry (of course), Mr. Trick, and not to mention me totally agreeing with Kristine Sutherland that some episodes showing Joyce as the Working Mother with another job besides taking care of Buffy (and latterly Dawn).
All badly missed opportunities.
