buffyversetop5Top 5 is now open for all your classic recs posts or searches for Buffyverse favorites gone by.
While all of you prepare to set out your platters of treats, I thought I'd kick us off by throwing out a few stats about the 953 rec posts that have been made since we started out in 2005. Top 5 tags its rec posts in five major areas –- category, character, form, fandom, and pairing. Browsing through these tags, here are a few things I spotted:
1) We have had 22 rec posts featuring one-shot characters (those who appeared in only one episode). We have had 46 rec posts that include original characters.
2) There are way more postseries stories recced than preseries ones.
3) Although we only tag for this when the stories rewrite or take place entirely within a given season, it would seem that BtVS S6 is recced the most and S1 the least. Similarly AtS S5 is the most popular.
4) Historical, time travel, and darkfic are among the most frequently recced categories. However, everyone loves a laugh. "Humor" is the most frequently used category tag.
5) There have been 40 posts made related to the comics series. There have been 9 RPS posts.
6) We have only had 4 podfic rec posts, 7 layout rec posts, and 3 mood theme rec posts.
7) We have had 147 icon rec posts. We have had one rec made for screencaps.
8) There have been 34 rec posts made for communities.
9) Despite Buffy thinking that Giles is very old and thus gross, he still gets around. He has been recced in 20 different pairings. Only one of those recs has him paired with Olivia.
10) We have had 38 different threesome pairings recced. (There have been foursomes and more recced too, but those have been tagged under either "cat: slash" or "cat: het"). Not surprisingly, our favorite vamps tend to be heavily involved in those.
