My Top 5 Spike/Drusilla fics of 2005

Somebody on the wish-list requested more Drusilla fic, and as I had this list stewing, I thought I would pop it up here now. Even if Spike is involved!

And I guess, just by the nature of their relationship, all of these fics have warnings and high ratings.


Item Title or Description: A First Time for Everything

Why I chose this: The thing I most enjoyed about this fic was how Drusilla wielded her power. And she is powerful, able to control those around her by manipulating them. The Drusilla voice was spot-on and William, oftentimes, a timid but willing accomplice.

Item Title or Description: By Way of Pain

Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Heavy BDSM and bloodplay

Why I chose this: Although this is S/B as well as S/D, this fic is all things to all people – hot, tantalising, sweet and angsty. The fic takes a look at how Drusilla has moulded and shaped Spike in her own unique way. Just a delight to read.

Why I chose this: I thought this fic did a brilliant job of assessing what Drusilla would be like with a soul, which is a topic in itself that raises endless questions and makes us re-evaluate each of the characters within the story. Well-written, emotive and thought-provoking.

Rating: R
Warnings: Violence

Why I chose this: I just enjoyed how the writer took a tiny snippet from canon (the 1950s ciao! Moment in TGiQ) and turned it into this wonderfully comedic, intriguing and scary tale. Drusilla is both maniacal and funny in this – and that’s refreshing to read.

Item Title or Description: Waiting in the Fog
Creator’s Name: quinara
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Er, (non-main character) death

Why I chose this: Set against the back-drop of 1940s Wartime London, the menace without becomes the menace within – something that is intrinsically Drusilla. Very intense and psychologically gripping.

I hope you find something that you enjoy! I've only read rayne_y_daze's drabbles, which are always good. I should check out some of the longer fic. And yes it's not a shock that Amy's fic won so many awards :)
And hopefully there's something for everyone here, once I finished writing it up I realised I'd got quite a bit of variety. Hmmm.

Yeah, all of these I found very memorable but certainly in that last one, the background information brought a lot to the story.

Yes, I agree. Very intense and a really interesting look into what makes Drusilla's character.
