In 2001, Quentin Travers persuades Buffy to go back through time to 1943 to do the same thing, because the future of humanity is at stake. But can Travers be trusted? Terrific premise and an interesting exploration of moral choices Buffy faces.

The story has been started last spring and has 2 chapters so far, but author promises regular updates in 2010. R, Post-Dead Things. Writer's summary: Remember how Fool For Love transformed your view of Spike? Ever wish Buffy could have seen that ep? Buffy goes back to the alley to collect the pieces after her assault of Spike in Dead Things, and does something that lands the two of them in FFL land. The very first chapter has a chilling surprise: looks like Warren was inspired by Buffy's treatment of Spike as he spied on them.

She was thisclose to being jossed, but, fortunately, the leak happened before she has posted anything that deals with Twilight's personality.

Oh, gosh. See I just don't think it would have ever made sense for Twilight to be Spike. Twilight is too Big Picture, too Twangel, ya know? He just doesn't fit as the way we know Spike today. Which means that Spike!Twilight would have to be different somehow - probably without a soul or something.

I might have made it connect to the amulet from Chosen. That it separated Spike into two beings - souled and unsouled. The souled!Spike would be the one we've seen in the story. The unsouled!Spike has been off somewhere working up Twilight's plan since the beginning of AtS Season 5. Which would kinda fit nicely with the whole people having doubles theme of TYSK.

I wonder if anybody's ever written a fic in which the Doctor from "As You Were" is, in fact, the Doctor from Doctor Who. *ponders*

Anyway! I think you totally could have worked that! I'm glad it didn't happen, but I have faith that you would have rocked that plotline hard.

I don't think he'll ever be able to understand that the audience doesn't think that Riley's nearly as cool as Petrie thinks he is. That must have been who Petrie wanted to grow up to be. *sigh*

Neat. I remember, back in seasons 6-7 there were speculations that Spike has been split into "macho" Spike and "romantic" Spike in the episode "Replacement", simultaneously with Xander.

Buffy had two decoys. Spike also should have been having two, or maybe even three - one of them being Angel :)

Thinking more on this, maybe that's why souled!Spike wasn't corporeal at first. The unsouled!Spike got the body. So the flash in Destiny was about bringing his souled!ghost state into a form of matter. And the unsouled!Spike was being used by the Senior Partners. See, they sent the amulet to stop the First from cornering in on their Apocalypse, then they used unsouled!Spike to undo the Slayer Spell.

Meh, I'm glad I don't have to do something so convoluted though! Because Twilight as Angel just fits. Angel is the one who I see as the most capable of becoming Twilight as he already stands. His resolute ability to cut off sentimental emotions and make hard, even horrific, decisions makes him the best fit.

Re: Twangel - I think I became myopic in my spoiler predicitions. I've been rewatching that scene in Chosen several times and came to conclusion that Angel couldn't see "that move" because he was lying on the ground, face down, when Buffy had split Caleb in two.

But, apparently, Joss doesn't take such details into consideration. :)

But see, he didn't need to see the move. He saw the results of the move. Caleb sliced in two from his groin and Buffy with her scythe. You can deduce how Buffy did it from witnessing how Caleb was violently disassembled. Angel merely has to look at the weapon and the way Caleb died, and his knowledge of what he'd do informs him on what Buffy just did. Think of Angel like a forensics specialist who can tell how people were violently killed. He's done it enough himself that he in fact is an expert. :)

I love your story a lot, partly because of an intriguing concept, partly because recently my RL friend Marvelgirl converted me into a Faith/Wesley shipper. I wasn't commenting because I'm a) lazy and b) uncomfortable to invade other peoples' personal space. So I'm using the occasion to tell you that I think that "A Place in Heaven" is a fascinating, conceptual AU and I hope you'll find time to finish it.

Aww, thank you! I always welcome comments, believe me! Especially since I always feel like the only one writing Wes/Faith nowadays. I love them so much. And Marvelgirl is awesome :) The story is actually inspired by her art.
