Five Fics I Really Enjoyed

Sorry. It's a bit of a naff description, but I'm not in the right headspace to categorise properly.

These are five fics I really enjoyed in 2009. They don't have anything in common and one of them (tragically) is a WIP. I have another post's worth of recs for another day, which is similarly lacking in an overall theme.



Prism by penny_lane_42, PG13. A unique view of the Spike/Buffy relationship in season 7 as seen through the eyes of 6 Potential Slayers and one actual Slayer. Wonderful character voices that bring these girls vividly to life.

An End of It by brutti_ma_buoni, Darla/OC rated R. Was Angelus Darla's first lover? What do you think? The author brings the 18th century French court of Louis XV vividly to life.

Positive Exposure by quinara, Spike/Buffy R/NC17, mostly for swearing. A Spuffy fic with a difference. In fact, I can honestly say I've never before read a fic with a premise like this one. Buffy does Hello! Magazine or something like. Very unique and interesting.

Terror Aboard the Persephone by girlpire, Angel and ensemble, plus assorted hangers on, PG-13. This fic is the WIP. As of the latest chapter being posted, it was one chapter away from the end, and unfortunately seems to be stalled there. Well worth reading in spite of that for the daft goings on and sheer brilliance of the comedy. You'll never want to go on a cruise again. Especially if you're a vampire. Or work for an evil law firm. Or just happen to be the guy installing the electrics.

Riley Large and In Charge by hello_spikey, Spike/Riley, NC17. An unashamed, and utterly delicious PWP, in which this rather unlikely pairing is made to work by dint of some wonderful writing and great character voices. Plus, there's a minor character called Singh, which is icing on the cake in my book.

It's wonderful, isn't it? I love historical fics anyway, but I've never read one like that.
