buffyversetop5 is Now Open!

Happy New Year's everyone! buffyversetop5 is now open for its 2009 session. Any fan-made work created or continued in 2009 is eligible for the Buffy, Angel and Firefly fandoms. petzipellepingo and I will be your mods.

We have had a number of responses to the Wish List post, so if you're still trying to think of some list ideas, check out the requests being made and give someone a new year's prezzie.

Last week we asked for feedback about the possibility of opening Top 5 to other Whedon fandoms. Given our responses, here's what will happen in 2010:

1) Classic Recs and the annual session each January will revert to being for the Buffy and Angel fandoms only.

2) There will be a new session in the spring (late March or early April) which will be open to recs for all other Whedon fandoms of any time period. (If anyone has a suggestion for a session name or would be willing to make some graphics for it, let me know!)

3) Top 5 will not be incorporating other non-Whedon fandoms in the future (although crossover recs are always welcome). Some other large fandoms discussed have their own recs communities available for searching.

4) Some work is going to have to be done on our tagging system in order for recs for different fandoms to be easily searched. If you would be willing to help out with that, please comment here.

I just have to say that without deird1, Still Grrr would have fallen into some serious chaos in terms of tagging. She has been an incredible asset in that area (as well as being an awesome member overall). She set us up with a delicious account, which I didn't even know existed and has been so fantastic for us.

I thought you already had a ban on other fandoms, or does this mean no crossovers with other fandoms?

We do, but some people were concerned that we would at some point, become a general fandom recs community. Crossovers are always welcome.

or even: "Whedon Worlds: With and Without Shrimp"
