On a list of my favorite Spander fics, there is a good representation of stories in which the setting plays as memorable (if not prominant) a role as the boys themselves.
My favorite is Waffle House by
sajinn in which there is a Waffle House, a cozy bungalow and a couple of mansions. It's set in Charleston, which I find very appealing. The setting really becomes a third character in this one.
Other favorites include:
A Place Called Home by
ladycat777 and Xanphibian aka
undeny in which we have a virtual Xander/House/Spike threesome. A classic.
The Woodshedby Rayne Jelly aka
malf0y_m0nkeys in which Xander has an old house in the country and a woodshed. Xander is charmingly oblivious in this one.
With or Without by
whichclothes in which there are hotel rooms, an apartment, and a brutally awesome house with a huge skylight, and an indoor lawn replete with stream. Swank. And the story is full of top notch hurt/comfort goodness.
Manifestations by Lazuli.Kat in which the setting is a number of hotel rooms, a cabin-o-badness, and a really sweet pad in the woods by story's end. This one, like Waffle House reflects it's Southern setting more than any particular location, but in such an insular way, I maintain it counts.
