Would you like to take part?
Mar. 26th, 2009 01:45 pmHello everyone!
As we all know,
buffyversetop5 is a recs community, and each fall we have Classic Recs over Halloween for older material that others have missed over the years, or newcomers may not have seen. Part of Top 5's purpose is also to celebrate all the talent we have in our fandom, in its many expressions.
This year is the ten-year anniversary of "Angel." I got to thinking that it might be nice to have an essays project on the topic of "who/what in the fandom has inspired you?" This would likely include nods to writers/artists/vidders, etc. that would be a bit of a general rec for their work, but it might also be about fandom projects, someone who got you to start writing or vidding, or other things fellow fans have done that have inspired you to be in the Whedonverse fandoms. These don't have to be enormously complex posts. I was thinking of something around 800-1500 words.
We could have them posting between the end of May (U.S. Memorial Day weekend) until Halloween, when Classic Recs would open, 1 or more per week, depending on how many contributions we get.
If you like the idea, please comment and tell us. If you have questions, please ask. And, most importantly, if you'd be willing to write a post yourself, please tell us that too. We'd like to make sure that if we launch this, we'll have enough contributors to keep the project running until fall.
