I was trying to cull through all the 2015 [livejournal.com profile] slayerstillness entries when I realized that nearly half of the "top 5" from that comm actually came Challenge 39 "Love is in the Air" (the Valentine's challenge). So why fight it?  This was one of my favorite challenges/prompts from any of the icontests this year, in a completely "Can we do it again? Can we do it again?" way. Artists made icons of canon and non-canon pairings and everybody brought their A-game. So, herewith are 5 of my favorites from that round (with kudos to moderator [livejournal.com profile] starry_night for her inspired prompts:)

Once again, the list is ins alphabetical order of artists' names) and as with my previous post, I'll eschew my usual verbosity and let the images speak for themselves:

1) Buffy/Tara #3 (Please may I make a home in you?) by [livejournal.com profile] kwritten

2) Willow/Oz by [livejournal.com profile] rua1412

3) Cordy/Xander by [livejournal.com profile] sweet_lyri

4) Spuffy #2 by [livejournal.com profile] teragramm

 5) Fred/Gunn by [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper

A continuation of sorts from my previous post: more icons, all from various [livejournal.com profile] slayerstillness challenges during the year excluding Challenge 39 covered in my previous post. Once again, verbiage will be kept to a minimum so the art can do the talking; and artists listed in alphabetical order by name.  (Otherwise I'd never get done here.)

I have set a restriction on myself for these posts: To list the artists only once within each post (so no duplicates, This was a helluva lot harder than I realized when you've got artists so fantastically talented and prolific like [livejournal.com profile] sweet_lyri, [livejournal.com profile] teragramm and [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper.  Complicating things is the fact that [livejournal.com profile] slayerstillness seems to have a smaller pool of regular participants than some other comms. (But don't quote me on that):

1) Drusilla by [livejournal.com profile] emmatheslayer for Challenge 57 (November)
BTW, I've seen other icons use this framing device and even this exact texture since then, but none so effectively.

2) Buffy IWRY (It Hurts Every Day) by [livejournal.com profile] muirthemne for Challenge 47 (June)
One of her only icons that round that did not take home a prize is the one that is my favorite. Go figure

3) Dawn by [livejournal.com profile] sweet_lyri for Challenge 40 (March)
Her Dawn set for [livejournal.com profile] btvsats20in20 was also superb. It's a departure from the style she's established this year of deep shadows.

4) Angel heart graffiti by [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper for Challenge 38 (January)
Sinister, witty and visually striking.

5) Buffy (A Father's Love) by [livejournal.com profile] teragramm for Challenge 51 (August)
In all honesty and with all due respect to the other wonderful artists I adore, this icon is probably in my top 5 for the entire year, if I was really truly forced to pare it down.

So while I was sorting through files for my previous post in order to include one of my favorite of [livejournal.com profile] teragramm's icons I realized "Oh but she also produced this one....and hey, what about this one....and I really loved this banner...."   So the only sensible thing to do was make another post: 4 icons and one banner. Icons are listed chronologically.  This is an artist I tend to associate with clear, bright colors (especially "teragramm blue"), but obviously she is every bit as skilled with muted tones and deeply saturated effects. Once again, I'll let the images do the talking:

1) Drusilla retro (Center Crop) for [livejournal.com profile] btvsats20in20 Round 10 (June)

2) Faith #2 for [livejournal.com profile] whedon_elite Challenge 123 (July) we123b_iconbyteragrammaugust2015_BMC.jpg

3) Buffy "Happiness" for [livejournal.com profile] btvsats20in20 Round 12 (August) teragrammhappinessicon20in20rd12august2015.jpg

4) Tara #3 for [livejournal.com profile] btvsats20in20 Challenge 58 (November) teragrammSS58-5_2015.jpg

5) Winged Buffy Banner (February)
Speaks to my soul, my Buffy-loving heart, and my Winged Buffy kink all at once. Dean Jackson's quote suits the character beautifully as do the ethereal, almost abstract wings that resemble extensions of her gown fluttering in the breeze, rather than literal feathered wings.

An extra special thank you to everyone this year who posted and commented, and all our past contributors. Without each of you, [livejournal.com profile] buffyversetop5 would never have reached the 10 year mark and there would be no reason for it to continue forward. This year as well as past years have brought new attention to a lot of wonderful work, so don't forget that the community is searchable by tags or memories all year round if you're ever looking for something to enjoy.

We hope that you will all join [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo and me again this year when Top 5 opens on October 27 for its Classic Recs session. We'll also be bringing back The Wish List for the occasion in September!

Some of my favorite past year's long fic, arranged from shortest to longest.

signifying nothing by [livejournal.com profile] kwritten (Dawn-centric, PG-13, ~31 000 words). Season six character study. After her sister's death and resurrection, Dawn grapples with her own humanity and tenuous grasp on reality; as her depression swings her from reckless to numb, she reaches out to new friends for help and a new perspective.
