1- the boy & the beast by
snowpuppies: Set in S4. This is so dark, but in a good way. You've got a cunning Spike, who's still dangerous even with a chip in his head. Great character-voices and... I don't wanna spoil it more for you, you've got to read this one.
2- He Needs Me by
slaymesoftly: A great Spander fic, full of angst and loss, and reveals how alike Xander and Spike are. It's a gift to all of you who enjoy "Xander taking care of Spike" fics. This is the author's first Spander fic, I hope she gets to write more in 2009. She writes excellent Xander and Spike.
3- Sunshine by
shadowscast: Thirteen years after Spike mysteriously disappears, Xander meets him by accident in the London Underground. Where has Spike been all this time, and what is he hiding? This writer does a great Post-Chosen Spander fics, and she delivered bit time here. This is for those who enjoy Spike being a parent. :)
4- Secrets by
margarks: Set in S4, Xander's basement, pre-Slash, and it's fantastic. Four ficlets connected with each other, two from Xander's POV and two from Spike's. The character-voices are dead on and the images serve the story well.
5- Hunted by
strickens_girl: After the battle against Wolfram and Hart, Spike's life is a mindless routine of helping Angel fight the lingering evil in LA and Buffy train new Slayers until one day when he gets a call that changes everything, thrusting into a mystery he has to solve before someone ends up dead. Wonder piece of work, full of suspect and mystery, and the reveal in the end is so shocking.
