Here are five fics that, when I read them, made me say to myself, "That is just amazing!" I hope you enjoy them.

I think this story has been recced already, but never mind. It can't be recced too often IMO.

Of All the Wonders I Have Yet Lived, Angel/Darla R by [livejournal.com profile] girlpire. A heartbreaking look at what might have happened if a human Darla hadn't died after all when Connor was born.

Domestic Bliss, Spike/Riley NC17 by [livejournal.com profile] nomelon. Begun in 2007 and finished in 2008, this story takes an unpopular (and most people would say wildly implausible) pairing and makes it work beautifully and believably in the context of a great, plotty story. Superlative.

Not the Way It Works, Fred and Lorne principally, G, by [livejournal.com profile] deird1. I'm actually not sure I know how to describe this fic. It's wacky and wonderful and made me smile for ages after reading it. A must for Fred fans everywhere.

Do you Believe? Spike/Buffy PG13 by [livejournal.com profile] rebcake. The author's entry for the latest round of [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy, a re-telling/re-ordering of BtVS season 4 that works beautifully and has a very canon feel.

Deadly Seven, Giles, Ethan and their Eyghon gang, PG-13, by [livejournal.com profile] bruttimabuoni. The author's entry for the The Dark Age challenge on [livejournal.com profile] fantas_magoria, it tells in spare, chilling prose the groups' descent from fun-seeking to the craving of dangerous, dark powers.

Oh, I loved "Domestic Bliss." It was emotional and action packed and very sympathetic portrait of both leads. Riley was especially well drawn. "Deadly Seven" is also excellent. This is another great list.

I love "Of All The Wonders." That story would definately make it into my top 5 fav fics of the year. I miss Jen. She needs a break from grad school so she can come back and wow us with her work.

Ooh, there are a couple I don't know there which look very enticing. And I love 'Not the Way it Works' - that's a too-rare friendship pairing which always makes me smile.

Thanks also for another rec - I'm loving the ego-boost!

Wow, I'm really excited to read all of these. This community is just wonderful. I can't tell you how awesome it is to be getting recommendations for the fics of 2008. And everyone reccing does such a great job of describing the fics so you know which ones would best strike your fancy. Thanks!

Gawrsh! You are a doll to rec my totally canon Spuffy fic. I don't know what you mean by canon feel, because it simply tells what actually happened. Heh. Well, in the land where Joss isn't quite as into torture as what I scoffingly call "the real world". Any road, thank you for listing me with these wonderful writers.
